Maybe Royal Enfield supplied the crew with transport, guides and security.

Maybe a KTM would have been less in-keeping? Bmw sponsored Long Way About and sold thousands of bikes off the back of it.

KTM must be kicking themselves about that. Idiots.

Bing can actually do the driving directions!

115 hours and 24 minutes. A couple of war zones admittedly, but If you do something like

India
Pakistan
Iran
Azerbaijan
Georgia
Turkey
EU

You don't need to pass through any particularly shooty countries.

I enjoyed this a lot, specifically the fact that it seemed the crew were just following Guy as he did what he wanted, as opposed to the standard "scripted" programme where the crew decides where to put the presenter for a bit... Not sure I'm too fussed about going to visit on the strength of that programme, but I'm sure there are many more aspects to India that what was shown here.

The other deviation from the norm was that they showed a translator in action, rather than the usual ask a question in English, person responds in foreign language with sub-titles and interviewer carries on as if they understood.

Mother announced today that she has a bit of a thing for Mr Martin. She's 73. How disturbing.

Came away with the impression India is just one big sthole with nice countryside. Not somewhere I plan to visit anytime soon.
It's an incredible place - somewhere you should visit if you want lasting memories.
I went there to set up a call center some years ago. It was weird walking out of our amazing 5* hotel into what can at best be described as a slum.
But I went out at night walking around on my own and it never felt unsafe. The people are incredibly friendly, but live in absolute poverty.
It's just so different to anywhere else I've ever been.

Shame this series wasn't longer. Two episodes isn't enough.

... it occurred to me at the end that the whole programme was "sponsored" / funded by Royal Enfield ?? as he rode their bike and partook in their race at the end also ??

... although I could be wrong...
Possibly - Royal Enfield are big in INdia - it's cool seeing them punting about on them.

They're also, in engineering terms, agricultural so while they're a bit crap, they're also very easy too repair and there is places all over India that stock parts.

I love how the blokes in India customise them as well.

Thought it was an enjoyable programme.

Loved that he borrowed boom mans boots for the race.

I've also got his autobiography as a Christmas present. I shall read it when I'm on holiday.

Only themselves to blame on that one, makes you wonder if they thought their bikes would actually cope with the trip? Looking at my dad's 250 motoX bike he sold a while back I'd say a KTM wouldn't cope with that trip.
