Finally got round to watching this yesterday. What a load of naive, spoilt, over-protected self-indulgent tripe.
That part near the end when he was asked to shoot the member of the Gadaffi army but clearly tried to avoid doing so, then psycho-analysed himself that he almost shot someone.... WTF did he think he was going for? A gap year holiday? And WTF did he think the "revolutionaries" would be doing? A peaceful protest? Cretin.
And as for his girlfriend...

i personally reckoned he couldn't just admit he had missed on purpose, he had up to that point spent his life recreating an action movie and then it got real, you can see even with the gun he had, they've all got fked up ak47s and he's gone and bought himself what looked like an FN P90 and had adopted the 'outfit' of US special forces, he's a dreamer but i'd still love to have done what he did. That part near the end when he was asked to shoot the member of the Gadaffi army but clearly tried to avoid doing so, then psycho-analysed himself that he almost shot someone.... It's the title that got me. Started out as a reasonable bike travelogue, then simply dissolved in to matey boy's action hero daydream.
Not sure if you're already aware, but it's a (reasonably apt) play on The Motorcycle Diaries.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
