Jaywick, or "West Clacton" in estate agent speak. It's a hole. The only place I've ever seen people keep burnt out cars on bricks in the "drive". Have a look round on Google Street view. It's quite surprising how st it actually is.
Shocking. Road names very PH, though Bentley Av not quite as prestigious as the name suggests.Nearest I've ever seen to a shanty town in the UK, makes the travellers sites look good.
Yep just like a shanty town, a disgusting putrid hole. The houses were originally holiday chalets and I'm surprised they are still standing given the amount of storms they must have seen over the years.
And the "Residents" we saw ......... Let's just say two short planks.
The, what I think was a lady, late for her court date for breaching her Asbo. "It's not my fault I'm not an early riser." No, never YOUR fault.

Not seen the program, but having had a look around on google maps, it looks to me as though there are some people trying to improve the place, and are improving their properties, but are being let down by the majority.
I certainly wouldn't want to live around that area.
Also, could do with the council going around, and resurfacing the roads, that would make a big improvement, not having weeds growing up through the cracks in the roads.

You know what, I was thinking that earlier. I've worked in, on and around the roads of Essex for the last 15 odd years. I've had schemes in every village, town, etc - even if it's just a bus stop replacement or something. I've never, ever done any work in Jaywick - nor am I aware of any work being done there!

A brief look at rightmove shows some agents who are contenders for the Booker, what with mentions of peaceful bungalows and strolls by the sea...

It's possibly not their responsibility. I'm guessing they are not adopted roads, and are supposed to be maintained by some sort of covenant in the title. The whole area is maybe a private development and the regs have been lost in the mists of time.anonymous said:

That horrendous woman (she's 29? REALLY?) made me laugh quite a lot last night: "ee's a pure bred staffie, like. His dad was a mongrel but 'is mum was pure so that makes 'im pure an' all".
Don't think that's quite how it works, love. You see, there are these things called 'books' that contain 'facts' - maybe you should do some reading? (Yeah, I know…)
I was shocked when the guinea pigs were given fresh fruit and lettuce to eat but the kids had rank looking hot dogs and pasta shovelled down their throats. Again.
That rough looking woman with the dodgy mohawk hair 'style' was a bit tragic - a life lived with no sense of discipline, responsibility and understanding of cause-and-effect (I've got a temper so I hit him, I'm going to give the magistrate the finger, it's not my fault I'm late for court 'cos I overslept). If she is not an homeless alcoholic within a couple of years, I'll be very surprised
Quite a depressing programme all in in all. Perfect demonstration of just why letting career benefits claimants breed away to their heart's content is really not the smartest of plans.

How on earth did she not get sent to prison? She assaulted a police officer and got a fine. She then assaulted a fire-fighter and got a fine and a tag(deducted at £5 a week from her benefits). She then removed the tag, and as such got a court summons. She turned up TWO hours late for court because she overslept – blaming the trains, this could easily have been checked –and all she got was another £100 fine. And the "Residents" we saw ......... Let's just say two short planks.

Is it any wonder that people have so little faith in the criminal justice system!
They don't work because they are unemployable - for £6 an hour - If they are not worth that then they need to work for a price they are worth. If the immigrants can come over here and find work that is not available in their Country why can't our doleies go abroad to get work? Why do we need to give them anything. They could go to India and sift through the rubbish tips for a few pence a day if thats all they are worth, they created their lifestyle, not our problem.
