How difficult is it to keep a place reasonably tidy?

I've never understood why people drop litter or spray paint on walls.

What an absolute sthole tbh. I was gobsmacked at the state of the place.

If they're correct that 50%+ of the adults are on the dole, they should be making them tidy the fking place up.

Jaywick, or "West Clacton" in estate agent speak. It's a hole. The only place I've ever seen people keep burnt out cars on bricks in the "drive". Have a look round on Google Street view. It's quite surprising how st it actually is.
Am I missing something? Just had a look on street view and whilst it's not salubrious, I saw maintained dwellings facing a beach.

Certainly a nicer looking environment than most inner city council estates.
"Nicer"? Have a look up the side roads.

Loads nicer, I mean who could resist a home on the gloriously named Sunbeam Avenue, just a moment's stroll from the sea?

you missed something, i drove through there last year with the wife in a 15 year old land rover, we were surprised i had all the wheels on it when we go onto a main road and we never stopped, it's a complete dump.

the wife was considering a teaching job that way and it sounded too good to be true, we are both essex born and bred and still didn't know of it's existence, trying to forget still.

having said that, we cried with laughter when we saw one of the disabled carriages that had been (badly) made to look like a rickshaw smile.

We left a £20k Defender (with locks about as effective as sellotape), kayak trailer, £900 roof rack, plus a couple of other half decent (£10k+) cars there for 36 hours and nothing was touched. They're not tea-leafs down there, they're just feckless/have no ambition.

who said property in the south east was unaffordable?

3-bed house for under £60k

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

The property has undergone recent modernisation and is positioned within one hundred yards of Jaywick's seafront.

Walk through Jaywick, I can guarantee you that this is not a TV Image situation. Jaywick is really FUBAR'd and so are the residents.
I just got mugged walking thru it on Google streetview.
Now that deserved a rofl

I thought the best bit what when hot dog connoisseur woman gave her daughter a big bowl of fresh fruit. I thought that's good - at least she's going to eat something healthy . But alas no, it was for the Guinea Pig's rolleyes
...and those double hard dogs around small kids - you can see why it's always these dipst families that end up in the news for dog attacks!! Makes me cringe.

I would rather live here than some high rise hell in an inner city. In a couple of mins you can walk to a beach for crissakes.

Yes but on the way to the beach you could fall over and have your fall broken by a)a load of used needles, b)a large collection of Tennants Super/Special Brew cans which never made it to the recycle bin, c)a monster mound of Staffordshire/Pitbull/Rotty dump that the owner "missed" whilst walking (chasing) the dog.

my idea of hell would be living in a city centre, or a tower block pretty much anywhere.

that said, Jaywick looks like a particularly run down and unsuccessful 'settled' esox camp to me
