Let me rephrase
when the film becomes all about the gadgets EG Die Another Day, and not Bond him self.
You are aright. The invisible car was a low point. I know its a film and its fantasy but DaD was 13 years ago and that technology is still nowhere near in existence at that level (although how would you know, cause its invisible init). Whereas a flame thrower anyone could conceivably add to a car.when the film becomes all about the gadgets EG Die Another Day, and not Bond him self.
I think the way they have rebooted it with DC, not even having Q and gadgets for the first two I doubt they are going to go off the deep end now

I 100% agree, however it remains to be seen whether Spectre is soaked with ridiculous hardware or if a car with a simple flame thrower is the begining, middle and end of the gadgets...
Lest we forget since Craig David took the helm, all he's had is a gun and a radio....

yes... I know it's Daniel Craig...

I'm reluctant to defend Die Another Day, but was the invisible car that much worse than the Esprit turning into a working submarine at the flick of a switch? I reckon that scene turned many young lads into fans of Lotus. Including me.
Hmmm, tricky one. At least with the Esprit it was a hybrid of existing, well-known technology with which we're all familiar and comfortable i.e. Cars and submarines.Invisibility though.....granted, adaptive camouflage and stealth has come a very long way but true "invisibility" is still the remit of wizards and imaginary friends, hence for my money it was shark-jumping moment which (along with the art student standard of CGI) ruined an otherwise benchmark Bond.
It's often said of earlier Bonds and their gadgets, that it's simply existing technology fast-forwarded a bit. There's more than an element of truth in this as a lot of the tech has now entered the consumer mainstream.....mobile comms, satellite tracking, smart/miniaturised weapons, voice recognition etc.
I get the feeling with the Vanquish though that they were either trying too hard, or at the other extreme just couldn't be bothered and glossed over a lame plot device on the premise that "It's Bond, it's not meant to be real"

For me, the most annoying bond gadget was the twin circular saw under the 7-Series bonnet badge. Completely and utterly useless unless you are put in that very specific predicament and the cable just happens to be at the right height!

Ahem. It was a DB5 in Goldfinger.
You quoted me just before I corrected my own post. Now my mistake is stored forever. Well it was in the book
Fleming got it wrong. He's referring to a DB MkIII

Oh come on. It's obviously the jazzed up version of a passive wire cutter as seen on every Snatch Land Rover. It's height-adjusted by way of a frickin' lay-zerrrr that detects any offending cheese wires and sets the wire cutter "just" right.
Duhhhhhh!
Bond is sporting a white dinner jacket that 007 has worn in past films including Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, Octopussy, and A View to a Kill.
Behind Bond is a creepy masked figure from the film's Day of the Dead sequence that calls back to Live and Let Die.

Why are they releasing it on a Monday, can't do a Monday
I would guess it's a way of manipulating "opening weekend" figures. I think they include ticket sales for all the days upto and including the first Sunday of release. This will allow them to boast "the highest grossing opening weekend of any Bond film'. Then the executives will all be very happy, and agree to fund the next film. Show business is first and foremost a business.
