I think I read somewhere that he was going to be in it playing another character but I bet it's a red herring.

All the ones without Jaws in are dreadful.

Yeah, bring back Roger Moore....under cover in Venice, swanning around in a gondola that coverts in to a hovercraft. I thought I was watching a documentary about spies at one point.
hehe again...
For Your Eyes Only, man in car racing out of a city versus an ageing Moore-Bond running slowly up a flight of stairs and Bond beats him to the way out rofl

I forgot about that one.

Regarding the pisspoor Skyfall. The story I heard, from a fairly good source, was that , in keeping with the 50th anniversary theme and the reappearance of the Aston Martin etc, the groundskeeper was slated to be played by Sean Connery - thus creating a fantastic nostalgia fest as Old Bond and New Bond fought together to bring down the bad guys. Then he dropped out at the last minute, miserable old sod that he is, and ruined all the carefully laid plans
Connery was never going to be in the running. Too much baggage with the Broccolis.

Roger Moore once tried to patch things up between Sean and Cubby Broccoli. He arranged to be seated between them at a dinner. At one point Cubby leant over to Sean and said "I heard that you wouldn't piss in my ear if my brains were on fire. Is this true?". Connery's reply was "Cubby my dear fellow, I'd happily piss in your ear for nothing."

I reckon Christoph Waltz, from Django and Basterds, will be Blofeld.

I watched django and Skyfall within 12 hours of each other. As the credits rolled for Skyfall I thought how awesome a QT bond film would be.

Bang on. Did they buy the set for the villains cell from the producers of the Avengers? Over rated. I could envisage Mendes waiting for the light to be @just right@ for Bond sailing into the casino on a gondola. Pretentious tosh.
I would *hope* that yes, the director of a film (if not the DoP) waits for the light to be @just right@ before shooting.

What else??

Too much of Skyfall felt smug and pleased with itself for me. I'm hoping the next film returns to the vein of Casino. Albeit the sequence in that where Vesper asks him what watch he's wearing was a bit painful as well.

I think FYEO is one of the better MooreBonds, comedy parrot aside. Moore didn't like the scene where he kicks the bad guy's car over the cliff, but just about eveybody else did.

For the Connery/Moore Bond films that scene is Bond being a bit of a bad ass. I liked it personally.

Been working my way through the Bond box set again recently. Upto Die Another Day tonight, I might skip it and go straight to Casino, DAD is as stupid as Moonraker imo.

It's Bond, it's never been the best when it comes to plot continuation to say the least. But I've enjoyed all 3 of the new films, I actually now prefer the hard edged minimal to none gadget Bond to the original. QOS was a bit weak ending wise, but still more than watchable.
I agree. Only the ending of QoS was weak, but the film more than held its own.

Has anyone noticed the poster for Spectre hints at the Octopus insignia with the 8 cracks radiating from the bottom of the bullet hole?

I also wonder whether Blofeld can reappear? Kevin McClory is now dead, so let's hope we seen Ernst Stavro in all his glory (it would be courageous if he appeared as in the books...I.e. hirsute!)
Kevin Mclory must have been crap as Blofeld as I don't remember him I remember Kojak and the doctor from Friday the 13th and Charles Gray I think Charles Gray was best as Safari suits are just the business.
was Kevin Mclory the one at the stat of For Your Eyes Only who gets scooped up by Roger Moore and dropped into Battersea Power Station Chimney
Watched for your eyes only yesterday, you're right the choppere/ wheelchair/power station chimney was brilliant!

hehe

I liked this one aswell -

Kincade: So who is it we're supposed to be fighting?

James Bond: No "we" in it. Kincaide. This is not your fight.

Kincade: Try and stop me, you jumped-up little st.

Yip, brilliant. I might be a little biased as I live in Scotland but Skyfall was one of the best in my opinion.

We try to watch one rerun Bond movie a week, just love 'em.

The only let down for me with Skyfall was how busy the cinema was when I went to watch it. Brilliant film though, it's by far the Bond film I've watched most.

He was in the running right from the start but was dropped as his presence was deemed to be distraction from the rest of the film.
