I'm still lying to myself. It was OK. Not great, but far from them pile of manure you guys have relegated it to.

I'm just tired, just so so tired at being fed up the same repetitive thin-plotted gruel. I am led to believe my expectations swill be met only to be dashed. That's almost psychopathic behaviour. The people who make these films have the tools to make something amazing, and yet they churn out something mediocre at best.

It is a truism, that nobody sets out to make a bad film, but man, they really need to drag themselves out of the stagnant mire of 'meh' they are currently in.

It's just too commercial. Think how much of that film (expositional stuff too) the editor will have wanted to leave in, and had to leave on the cutting room floor because he had to hit a running time, and there MUST be a lingering shot of a fking Omega, or a close up of a Heineken or a Sony or an Aston or whatever fking st they're peddling to cover costs this time.

It's fking pathetic.

I would need to watch them back to back but I felt somehow that Casino Royale managed to walk the line of featuring the products without making an extended commercial. I'm not sure how they achieved that but i wonder if it's down to the fact that the franchise was in the absolute stter after Dross Another Day and the sponsors didn't really care so much, and left them in peace to make it?

SPECTRE had the pungent whiff of a marketeer all over the edit. Product in place of plot several times and the most preposterous costuming I can remember seeing for a while.

Any movie thread on here that begins enthusiastically, but runs for months after release, turns into a litany of posts by dull people about how poor the movie was.

That was sort of my point though - they managed to write that into the scene in quite a clever way (I thought). It didn't feel as badly done - the film is MUCH better than all his others IMO.

The bit where he breaks into the assassin's room in Haiti in QoS is much more jarring when the camera lingers on his watch for a creepy length of time.

Haha. Yes. I didn't even need to open the link to know which scene you were talking about.

I believe your statement is invalid.
Star Wars thread wasn't like that, I doubt Deadpool thread will go that way. Good films produce generally decent reviews and vice versa. The Spectre thread may have started out with hope before anyone saw it, but post release there was only one way to go...like the Prometehus thread.

Almost an expression of disappointment, one might say.
Fixed that.

The watch geek in me actually quite liked that bit for the reason that they showed the luminescence on the face - correctly considering he was supposed to have entered from a brightly sunlit street.

Watched it last night - £7 DVD from Tesco (nearly all gone).

Poor value.

Perhaps the best bit is the title song - good work by Sam Smith anyhow.

Seriously? The song has some terrific instrumental (especially the way it is used in the middle of the movie), but Smith's whiny falsetto and affected enunciation was panned when the song was released and it hasn't improved with age.

I know the song got to No.1 in the sales/downloads chart, but Sam Smith is one of those artists who has reached the point that he could release a fart and his fans would still buy it.

The dvd price on amazon has dropped from a tenner to seven pounds immediately and amazon are refunding the difference for pre-order customers.

Says it all in my book, they just can't sell em.

In a world of Blu-ray, Netflix, Sky Box Office, Amazon Prime and especially Torrents, I am surprised any standard DVD sells.

yes
I agree that this has more to do with the demise of DVD as a format rather than a problem with the film.

Worth it just for the scene of Lea Seydoux walking through the train carriage in that dress.

I enjoyed it I am not saying it is a classic but the time went over pretty quickly but then I thought the X Files was ste and others think it was great. I guess opinions are like certain parts of our anatomy we all have orifices.

Watched again on Sky. Think it is ok but its definitely the worst of the DC films. They have tried to put some comedy back in (started in Skyfall) but its all gone a bit Roger Moore.

Noticed as well he barely has a drink. Some vodka in his flat, then orders 1 martini at the clinic which he doesn't get. Not very bond that.

I think it suffered from script problems. DC said they were re shooting scenes close to release. The whole bit with the message from M seems to have been put in at the end.

The timeline is all over the place as well. It seems like it takes place a few months after the end of Skyfall. Yet C has had that entire building built and merged departments in no time at all.

It just could have been so much better.
