Agreed, except it was left dangling, I was waiting for years hoping for a sequel that never came

It's rather analogous to Wikus waiting for Christopher to return. smile

But that was the point of Alien from the start, and the only big question left for the franchise - what if WY get what they want in the end?
I just don't think it'll translate well onto film.

Yes I saw a trailer for it the other day. Here you go:

It looks a bit like a remake of Short Circuit, only the robot is more humanoid (it's really Sharlto Copley) and runs into Yolandi and Ninja from South African outfit "Die Antwoord". eeklaugh
That does look interesting.

Alien 3 and Ressurection being disregarded and Ripley confirmed?!

I really hope this is true!
Awesome. I just hope they explain away the two other movies in a believable way (no time travel/alternative reality crap).

IMO, treating them as Ripley's vivid dreams would be the cleanest way to both ignore the events that happened within them - whilst at the same time retaining them as canon.

Perhaps - but we know Ripley has very vivid dreams about the Aliens - so it is in keeping with existing canon biggrin

The Xenomorphs in Giger's original conceptualisation of them were actually intelligent themselves with their own seriously weird culture and not the 'insectoids' that the films have turned them into. There were certainly no 'Engineers' or even 'Queen Aliens' in Giger's original depictions/blueprints.

Are you sure? I have some artwork books that show the engineers although I agree with the queen. I can see where a queen would come from with giger always including a very female element to his art

It was Dan O'Bannon that did the story, Giger was brought in to design the aliens as Dan's original ideas weren't that scary-
