Is it me or is this just the most mean spirited quizshow on TV? I have no idea why anyone would go on it, winning seems to depend on how charitable the producers are feeling on any given day.

I swear there was one episode with an old guy on the team who looked like he was going to cry when they lost with just seconds to go.

Part of the risk of it though? If they get enough right the chaser may lose...

It's almost worth watching just to hear what non-PC bon mot Bradley comes out with to describe the chaser, usually involving how fat/miserable/frigid/badly dressed they are.

And when the questions/answers are rude and he wets himself..

I like it. Occasionally, some gump opts for -3k and you just will them to lose.

Then there was the student who came close to winning 50k - we were well roting for him!

I am the same when someone takes a 'minus' offer. The team always looks so pee'd-off.

Has anyone ever watched the US version? Painful to watch with the whooping, tense music, endless "coming up" clips, constant references to "The Beast", the annoying voice of the presenter... I could go on.

The prize money is a lot larger - $5000 per question on the cash builder round.

Oh god, don't get me started on those freeloading s who take -£2k just in the hope they can get a piece of £30k or whatever the others have got the pot up to.

But back to the actual game, it just seems totally in the Chasers favour, eg, when the time is nearly up whathisface starts asking questions like he's the dude from the old Micro Machines adverts. Has anyone even won anything worthwhile recently? Tonight all four got through, got 21 steps and lost with 1 second to go. Their own fault for not getting any pushbacks I guess but sometimes it's like the game goes;

To players: "what was the name of abraham lincolns best friends mothers dog?"

To Chaser: "what colour is red?"

Like I said in the OP, one old guy the other week genuinely looked heartbroken as the Chaser just got them with seconds to go. I think he wanted to take his wife abroad or something.

^ Of course it's like that. It'd be no fun as a viewer if it was mid tier difficulty throughout - and the chaser regularly pasted them with a minute to go.

It's easily spottable telly that it gets easier near the death, but it's still fun when the chaser gets flustered - the governess especially crashes and burns every so often...

But that's what usually happens!

And then when they have a lot of steps like tonight, Bradley Walsh asks the Chaser questions like this:

I've only starting watching The Chase this year after seeing the Fanny Chmelar clip on youtube biggrin anyway, it seems to be my guilty pleasure now that i have on series record!

I have noticed that the chaser can get some easy questions at the end though!

I may or may not have just filmed an episode of The Chase (Depends if the production team are reading this!)

I went on for a giggle, my kids dared me to ring in so I did. A nice few £k would have been a bonus but I knew there was little chance!

Bradley is actually a nice guy who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable.

There are two "sets" of questions, the contestants get to choose which one they want...

Nope - I TRIED to take what I'd won on the cash builder but didn't make it "home"
