The track shootout was a cut and paste job - she wasn't doing a lap of the full circuit at Anglesey (i.e including the hairpin loop) in 1.27. I think that's more like her time for the Coastal circuit and the hairpin footage was just extra filming added.

Shouldn't the 4wd 911 turbo have mullered the Aston on a damp circuit?!

The "next show" interuption at the end was major annoying. Would have been alright if they hadn't all been talking at the time.

5th gear has been excellent, as most of times. Not as "entertaining" as Top Gear, but great none the less.

Well done team (I'm aware you guys read this!).

I think it's a better car show. Top Gear is (or was) a better car based sitcom. There's room for them both though.

Just watched the last fifth gear not a bad episode, loved the resto mod cars and amy williams smile. Much better than the week before.

If they are showing the episodes in the order they were filmed then my car should be on next weeks show.

The "hot hatch" trio they had on last night was filmed earlier on the same day. That V6 Clio that had only done 300 miles is owned by Renault. They delivered it along with a car tested alongside mine in the back of a lorry.

I thought last nights episode was good. Tiff driving the Formula Ford he won over 40 years ago in a magazine competition was ace

I read that he had and was intending on doing some classic FF races this year.

Yes I think so. He said it's had 9 owners and now is back in his hands

Excellent episode, and for the first time in years- including Top Gear, I didn't fast forward any part. I did zone out of the Delorean, but was back in on the I8.

That's got to be worth a watch, might try and keep an eye out to see when he's doing them.

Still a good watch but seems to be missing something without JP. The good humoured rivalry between him and Tiff worked really well, VBH appears to be on the pies or has another sprog on the way, anyway, less squealing this series which is good. Ive enjoyed listening to Karun commentate on the F1 practice with Crofty and Anthony Davidson but dont think he came across that well on here...

Well I'm sorry. But 5g is just not doing it for me this series. And there's been times over the years that it has been far better than TG.

I'm not going to defend TG as the best TV ever (like some of the fanbois do on here) but at least there is some variation week to week.

In 5th Gear next Week.

Tiff and 1 Other. Shootout 2 cars on a track with a series of tests. Mostly sliding about and autocross stuff. We didn't even see the interiors of Merc or Jag. Let alone the engines
A team test that tells you virtually nothing about the car. (thought the Cactus seems good)
Cut price heros will fill some time. Make you think you can get a good example for the price on screen
Henderson will "review" a car and tell you nothing about it (And she said Marty McFly owned the Delorean, so she's clearly never seen the films! And missed the part about John DeLorean being a crook) Serously at least JC REVIEWED the i8.
And one of them will spank something around a track. This week that FF. Last time at Angelsey with the 911T

It's like they've decided that's what the series will be. And they'll make it for the least amount of money they can.

with the quality of the presenters (apart from VBH) it should be a much better show.

Has Johnny done anything (on his own) this series?

Seems to be a bit Tiff heavy generally.

From following him on the Twitter, Jonny has been off in the States with Tom Ford filming a series for BBC America, so probably wasn't available for much 5th Gear work.

He had one a couple of weeks before that was filmed. She had to pop off half way through filming to go and feed it

Whilst the first page of the TvF&R forum is full of Clarkson/TopGear related threads, the Fifth Gear thread languishes on Page 4.

Whilst I'm a fan of Tiff, VBH and Jonny Smith they just don't have the budget or scripts to be anything other than 'meh'.

Driving a Bentley and 911 around town discussing how good the heaters are, and then a lap of the track (has anyone ever seen a convertible (modern) Bentley on a track day?) when the 'real world' test would be to road trip them from London to Warsaw.

Team test of yet another strange variant of the Fiat 500 (MINI as just as bad, trying to get every niche covered by something sort of resembling the core vehicle) - to be any use as a consumer review they need to finish their conclusions by saying what the best in class is, we didn't learn if the 500X is better than a Mini Paceman or a Juke or a more traditional hatchback.

The old Polish car segment was the most interesting, but even amongst petrolheads classic cars are a big turn off unless it's an old supercar.

Tiff in a rallycar was a bit nothing-y as well, although it showed the different approach to driving needs from his usual track style.

I agree. The only thing that seemed to rouse my interest was I was curious as to whether the 911 was on winter tyres like the Bentley.

Thought it was a bit boring.
