Police won't necessarily get involved without a complaint which, as I understand it, has not been forthcoming.
Assault is also a civil tort and a remedy in damages can be sought for the injury and loss of income.
Thus if there was a claim - and I don't know if there is - minimising the victim's "fallout" from the incident is always going to be a wise move or you get into the realms of "he'll never work again loss of income" territory.

Actually yes I do, Clarkson, May and hammond are very rich individuals already they don't need TG, and Sky doesn't need to be seen as the corporate that condones violence it could hurt their revenue stream sponsors / advertisers do not want their image tarnished so if you think Clarkson is just going to repeat his antics from TG with Sky you may be waiting a very long time George111 said:

Would be funny if the channel Dave took them on and actually broadcast the old TG crew in a new show instead of old TG repeats!

James May was a joy to watch when he did that homemade Action Man rocket programme, he can certainly carry a show on his own and one could argue that when unshackled from the "Captain Slow" persona he has to play on TG he shines. An inventions show really suits his kind of fastidiousness and attention to detail.
I'm not as sold on Hammond as a sole presenter, personally, but he's demonstrated capability at it.
My gut feeling is that both of them will want to continue in some capacity at the BBC, because ultimately they have already and could continue to make a good living from them outside of TG. I can't see them poisoning the well myself by resigning.

BBC culture changes with the tide - or rather whoever is sitting in the top seat. Clarkson could easily return to BBC at some point in future whenever a new boss is appointed.However, that depends on whether he actually wants to, or rather wants to continue with TG or a motoring related programme, and I'm not convinced he does.

Agreed. In addition, listening to/reading the comments from JM and RH, they too are suggesting it's well and truly over for the three amigos.However, that depends on whether he actually wants to, or rather wants to continue with TG or a motoring related programme, and I'm not convinced he does.
RH has been typically quiet but did tweet "it's been a hell of a ride".....past tense.
JM has said very similar things, and posted a photo of him and Clarkson in a man-hug with the caption "And goodbye...."
They've all had time to reflect, and my money's on them each coming to the conclusion this is the exit opportunity they all needed, even if it's not quite the circumstances they would've chosen.

This way, it's the BBC's fault and it just abruptly ends the way it has.
Maybe it's just the blasee way they seem to be taking it all, and combined with the few throw away comments earlier in the series, just makes me wonder a little.........
