Clarkson in trouble again...
Discussion
My take,
First of all JC fate was sealed two weeks ago. It's probably right that he is gone.
Secondly the BBC have admitted that JC has a huge talent. They seem to have a real problem dealing with these 'big talent' personalities (Ross as well), and the nature of their industry attracts them. They seem to me to be encouraging mediocrity. With the right management in place the events that led up to this (and I mean in terms of JC getting carried away generally - not the food being provided) would never have happened.
Assuming that RH and JM do go I fear that the BBC will try and slot in 3 presenters and 'force' the chemistry. Will it work? Well they have managed to replicate it in the US and Australia so it might. But they are a hard act to follow.
Again assuming that the three of them pop up on another channel it will be interesting to see what changes.

He did it to avoid having to change his name to Jennifer,.
Probably time for tg in the current format to die. It was getting a bit repetitive.
The polar expedition stands out as something actually serious and done properly.
I feel sorry for May and Hammond.
I wonder, does he also loose his job at tg magazine ?, does everyone loose their job at tg magazine ?

So if the beeb hold all the rights to TG, and May and Hammond decide to clear off as well. The BBC could regard the TG product as damaged goods that cannot be repaired and will want to cut their losses.
So along come ITV with a big fat cheque book, buy TG off the beeb, all three presenters sign for ITV and normal service is resumed. Brilliant.
Don't be sure ITV or Sky will rush to sign Clarkson. Yes, I agree the thought will bounce around their brains for some time but they will tread very carefully. First, Clarkson is a handful and arguably this event will affect him, making him more unpredictable as he battles to prove a point. Second, TG was approaching the Jumping The Shark, so ITV would need a compelling pitch how TG can be rebooted for a new different long term run. Third, Clarkson hit his producer and this after a 20 minute tirade, which is simply unacceptable and iilegal. ITV has a fat cheque book because they're smart, not desperate. PS: one thought, there's nothing to stop the three amigos from doing a deal with Google, and create a channel on YouTube. That would test Clarkson's resolve, and test May/Hammond. But it would be global, fairly unrestricted, be multi-platform/format c/o Google/Android and be an ultimate two finger salute. Will be interesting.

I see that North Yorkshire Plod is sticking its snout in to this matter....
Presumably the same North Yorkshire Plod which was so inept over the Savile affair that it voluntarily referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission?
Unless Tymon wishes to press charges, why would Plod get involved?

Because somewhere on Mumsnet, there's probably a thread asking "well, if he got sacked for assault, why isn't he going to jail? Hmmm? I mean, what are the police doing letting a violent oaf like JC stay loose on the streets / what do I pay my taxes for etc etc"ewand said:

You mean like NP and E is on here for anyone except Clarkson?Cobnapint said:

Thing is with the polar one, while they did their normal messing about, the risk to everyone was real. At some parts there is no rescue possible because a twin otter can't land and ultimately they would have to drag themselves out.
While the filming appeared to make out it was just may and clarkson, they were very well supported, but even so, it was still really risky.

I think anyone who is expecting a rejigged format to involve detailed reviews of cars for car nerds is going to be disappointed, either when it doesn't happen or when it gets canned after viewing figures plummet to 5th Gear levels.
This - it will henceforth be known as "Flop Gear", BBYeah said:
It wouldn't surprise me if Oisin contributed more to the overall quality of top gear than Jeremy did in many ways.
I think you are a bit ill-informed there. JC and Any Willmen invented the new format, Oisin was a jobbing TV Producer on a show that Andy and JC created. However, his actions will affect the rest of his TV career for life I suspect. AlexRS2782 said:

And based on some of the hate posts directed at the producer in various threads on here, including the one in NP&E, some of them doing that are probably PH'ers.bakerstreet said:

I stand corrected but my point was more that I have doubts of the overall contribution by JC to the show's overall quality in recent years.BBYeah said:
