Charlie Brooker, Frankie Boyle and Mark Steel.
Have you seen Boyle lately? The only thing he'll be able to test drive is a dumper truckEdited by Oakey on Friday 13th March 22:54
I liked the Harris/Coulthard video; they seemed to work well together. Add Guy Martin and you've got three enthusiastic and likeable presenters. Remove all the staged arguments and challenges and build/compete in some decent cars/bikes/boats and review some new/classic stuff. Top Gear hasn't been a car show for some time. My sister (in her 40s) watches it with her daughter (teenager) and they both find it funny (races/hovercraft projects etc). Neither of them knows a single things about cars.
The BBC should have commissioned a serious car/bike show for 6 weeks each year just to show how far Top Gear has moved away from what it was/should still be, then pulling TG wouldn't have felt like such a wrench for some.
I honestly think that Top Gear can still work without Clarkson,Hammond and May. Yes, Clarkson has helped to put it on a pedestal, but if it hadn't been on the BBC it would have disappeared without a trace - just as those three will if they think they can move to ITV/C4/Sky and carry on where they left off at the BBC.

Seriously, you need him. He's worn out his act on this side of the Atlantic after ten years of three hours per week on NASCAR telecasts.

Because a serious car show really worked for Fifth Gear? The BBC should have commissioned a serious car/bike show for 6 weeks each year just to show how far Top Gear has moved away from what it was/should still be, then pulling TG wouldn't have felt like such a wrench for some.

Top Gear is a light entertainment comedy show - a subtle and accidental blend of "Only Fools ..." and "Last of the Summer Wine and for those of a certain age "Hancock's Half Hour". and "The Three Stooges"
It happens to have cars in it as props
By all means have a programme fronted by motoring journalists, comedians and rock stars who like cars.
It just won't be Top Gear tho'

Am I the only one who doesn't see the hype about Chris Evans? I know his a massive petrolhead and has a great car collection, but I think Top Gear would be awful with him hosting.
No, I don't like him, but we may be in a minority - the only criteria people seem to be seeing as important here is mass appeal and viewer numbers.Bit like Ant 'n' Dec.
