The beeb also have another obscure candidate who is good. There was a childrens TV thing on bloodhound SSC where the kids TV presenter ended up chucked in the back of an extra stunt plane with Andy green.

Of course it was expected green would throw him around the sky a bit look a bit green and job done.

NOPE

You had green pulling bigs Gs and throwing the plane all over the place while this loon sat in the back screaming to harder and faster

No idea who the loon was but he might be a good call

Guy Martin - knew of him, hadn't seen anything he'd done. Youtube. Ah. He's like an even more annoying Robson Green.

Racing drivers - you only have to watch Tiff Needell and Karun Chandhok on 5th Gear to see why Clarkson decided the tame racing driver would not be a speaking part.

If the BBC reboots TG with a new team, I think there will have to be a woman onboard. It won't improve the show, in the same sense that having John Humphys co-present Woman's Hour wouldn't improve that, but it will be deemed necessary.
Woah Woah Woah! Fair point about Karun Chandok, but Tiff is a great presenter. There's no one else who can drive a car on the limit and talk to the camera and be entertaining.

The feature Tiff did on 5th Gear about his old Lotus racing car vs the current Elise was good, because he was talking about things he was passionate about, but the rest of it doesn't do anything for me, and the track challenges are the second worst bit of the programme after the segment where they all sit in some dreary family stbox and comment on the glove box and child seat fittings.

Yes, this chap is good. No idea you'd put him with as he'd leave the other two for dust.

ok, let me get my flack coat before i say this...

Top gear had lost its edge anyway tbh - clarkson kept being controversial to keep the viewers - basically what was it - it was last of the summer wine with petrol and wheels (sometimes).

The cool wall went... when did they actually give anything about cars - frankly it was just another serial like LOSW and birds of a feather etc etc.

RIP but FFS it was long overdue a shot in the head, thankfully clarkson took one for the team.

Lets get some new young mixed race/sex presenters in and move out of the stone age and lets move on...and if they go to sky - good luck to them - im not paying 'phone tap murdoch' a penny, and it would underline the fact this is all contrived to line their own selfish pockets, not for the common good = p*** poor moral compasses for all of them.

I find it fascinating that over 1m people sign up to reinstate the *****, yet nobody considers that if they were on the receiving end they would be the first to call the no blame = a claim idiots.

I am quite excited about the prospect of an all new top gear, a break away from the circus of a show it had become. The difficulty is for some unbeknown reason, the public like top gear. I don't think they will be able to replicate what they've had the past few years with Clarkson Hammond and May (thankfully)but I don't know whether a more grown up show will be as popular - I'd like it but I don't understand why anyone liked the current format and I'm obviously in the minority. Anyway, my three would be. ....

I rarely watched the regular shows but sometimes watched the extra long specials.
I agree the show had got stale... as with a lot of TV programs they had found a formula that worked and then flogged it to death. Personally I would like to see a program that reviews some more modest cars and tackles some consumer issues as well as doing all the hyper car and trips around the globe stuff.

Would be nice to a mix of presenters too that is a bit more representative - a woman or someone black or asian.

Jason plato what he left fifth gear to concentrate on his new btcc team this year why would he even think about top gear.
Him and tiff where good together at fifth gear but as fifth gear shows a pure car programme falls flat on its face, the classic car show with QW and Jodie kidd is utter tosh, repeated sequences from other shows.

Top gear wont be back on at the bbc with a new line up it will fall flat on its arse the whole thing with top gear was the relationship between the 3 more than the cars. It was a light relief programme at the end of the week on a day when there is naff all on. You don't have to be a car nut to enjoy it that why it worked it was a show for everyone to watch. Replace that to be a proper car reviews it will die.
BBC knows this so I wont be surprised to see them sell the rights off to claw back the lose of money.

I haven't seen yet a single person apart from sabine from german tg that would work in that role.

I was thinking this. Everyone who made the show what it was have said it's over. Most significantly IMO Andy Wilman and Richard Porter.

But then again Top Gear USA is more of the same with different people and that took a season or too to gel but now works well so maybe it can be done.
