Truly Madly Deeply/Ghost
Not sure they were similar, and certainly not copycat.

I'd lost a family member a couple of months before I first saw TMD and it really hit home. Some bits of the script used the same phrases that I'd said. Really quite spooky, and not because of the supposed ghosts.

Ghost was just entertainment, and perhaps instructions on ceramics.

The Entebbe raid spawned at least two main cinema releases, plus many TV specials, books, probably a musical by now, too.

LA Take Down and Heat?

The Omega Man and I Am Legend (although Omega Man was based on a book that had already been filmed as well).

Comparing Finding Nemo and Shark Tale is like comparing a Ferrari to an MR2 with fibreglass add ons made to look like a Ferrari.

Yeah, that's a pretty good one. Sometimes a major film with similar plot can help bump what would be a DVD film onto the big screen.

Heat's just a big-budget remake of LA Takedown.

'The Omega Man' IS based, rather loosely, on 'I Am Legend'. There was also a previous film, 'Last Man on Earth', in 1964.

Not a straight copycat but both the share the concept of a woman losing a partner and seeing their partner as a ghost but that's where the similarities end but it hasn't stopped TMD often described as thinking man's Ghost.

'Battle for Terra' was only on at my local Cineworld for two showings. I took my kids and it was in the biggest cinema. We were the only one's there biggrin

Told my lot that I had booked the whole place especially for them.

I thought it was a really good film and beautifully animated.

That actually a spoof/parody, not a rip off, ive not seen it yet but its supposed to be really funny and good (and be very careful to not offend paul walkers memory). The twilight parody was also good too.

As for 2/3 (I remember 3 films being remarkably similar launched at the same time but cant remember what they are) films being the similar coming out at the same time, could that be because a script has been read but the prospective producers like the idea/setting but don't like the actual script but make a film anyway and a different produce takes the original script hence 2 films that are similar concepts?

Except 'the raid' was a remake of an Indonesian film written by a welsh dude. Not sure how the years fit together that the films were released, the Indonesian film could be a copy of dredd I supposed but the writer of 'the raid' had made similar films before.

I have all three films and I have to disagree. Both Raid films are watch once only experiences for me, while Dredd can be enjoyed with multiple views. For me at least.

If not already suggested look up the Couch Tomato youtube channel for '24 reasons why...' compares loads of films.

The Matrix/Lego Movie is my favourite.
