Ordinary Lies - car sales drama
Discussion
This series started off very slowly (for me) in the first episode, but is developing into fascinating viewing, episodes two and three have been excellent, with a strong plotline, and plenty to keep the viewer's interest throughout.
Highly recommended, for those that haven't yet seen it. Tonight's was very good indeed.

I'm getting used to it now - expectations were high when it started, but it works as a soap with 'extra'. Not a patch on 'Clocking Off' though.
Be nice to see one of the sales team have a Damascene conversion after selling some poor punter the full 'paint-protection-and-upholstery-shield' at full margin on a 10 year old Picasso...

I watched the first and second episodes, the third is plused and I might watch it tonight.
What is the timeline on the show? Are these events happening simultaneously? For example, have the events from the first been 'sorted out' as he was still working at the dealers during episode 2 with no mention of his rather large and hard to maintain lie!

Missed the 1st, 2nd okay, I thought the 3rd a bit weak.Be nice to see one of the sales team have a Damascene conversion after selling some poor punter the full 'paint-protection-and-upholstery-shield' at full margin on a 10 year old Picasso...
If you want to see a paint protection presentation, see Fargo (film not TV)
I think the programme has to be seen in context.
It's not a programme about a car dealership as such, more about the goings on in the lives of people that work in the company.
It could just as easily have been PC world or Tesco.
The first storyline about Jason Manford and his "dead" wife was a bit silly, to say the least.
Stick with it though.

It was 'resolved' by his wife accompanying him into the dealership at the end of Episode 1. Presumably profuse apologies all round was sufficient.Well, that's over...it's a bit too soapy for my taste, but if that's all that's on then it's OK for an hour.
If they do another series it'll get too far gone - consider all the weird and wonderful things that have just been enacted in these few episodes, then look at the number of other 'characters' we've not yet heard, let alone the ongoing dramas, and it gets a bit...busy? Or like every other soap in other words.
Not that I'd be averse to seeing a catastrophic disaster befall the showroom. It would have to be something suitable - remnant of Skylab re-enters Earth's orbit (after 20+ years undetected in space) and scores direct hit into leading girls' cleavage, that kind of thing. Cocky boss-man gets visited by his former IRA comrades leading to massive shoot out/seige/hostage situation. Or sink hole appears and everything disappears without trace. Or script.
