I use Podkicker which has worked nicely for a couple of years now. You can have it free but ad-supported, or a paid version.

No Such Thing as a Fish. My mate introduced this to me over the weekend. It's the researchers from QI (the QI Elves) having a random chat about various interesting subjects. Very ad hoc and nerdy, but good listening.

Some more science & geeky ones:

Dr Karl - Various science Q&A phone in shows, the Aussie version is better than the BBC one.
Skeptic's Guide to the Universe - Quite sciencey with a bit of spoon bending
FW:Thinking - Futurology
Still Untitled: The Adam Savage Project - Mythbusters, sci-fi, making stuff, etc
Naked Scientists / Astronomy
Titanium Physicists - Quite in depth physics stuff, but well explained.
Startalk Radio - Neil Degrasse Tyson - co presented with random comics, so pretty entertaining.

The Pod Delusion.
Different commentators talk about stuff that interests them. Very good indeed.

The Football Ramble
Panel of mates talk football, very well produced, and interesting. Can also be funny

The Tuesday Club.
Unofficial Arsenal Podcast.
Alan Davies and a selection of others talk about Arsenal, can be extremely funny, (if you don't mind Mr Davies). Try the episode 'A Cup of Coffee and I'm Spritely'

Now a Marmite choice, I really like it my friends don't.

Skeptics with a K.
The Merseyside Skeptics Society podcast.
Mainly chat about 'piskicks' homeopathy and assorted other mumbo jumbo.

Comedian's Comedian - An hour or so chat with a comedian on their writing processes, TV work and just about everything. Really interesting for a comedy nerd like me.

Flintoff and Holcroft - A chat about cricket and everything from Freddie and his mate.

He's a modern renaissance man, he's into man stuff like fighting and lifting heavy weights, psychedelic drug use and cars, he has some incredibly funny people on (if you like American stand up) and he has some incredibly interesting science and technology guests and he's prepared to let them talk and asks the relevant questions. You will not agree with everything he says (I don't on most things), but on balance he and his guests are worth listening to on most things.

I found him because he was talking to Magnus Walker and Alex Ross... from there I started to pick selective names of other's he'd interviewed. Some aren't really my thing but others are good. I has a long boring commute so his podcasts kills time basically.

JRE is one of my favourites too. As others have said, it can be very guest dependant. But it's also the formant. It's basically a 3 hour discussion without ads or breaks. They obviously talk about the guests field, but it's very freeform and can head anywhere. Where else will you hear Brian Cox talking about masturbation?

Some good suggestions on here, I'll give a few of them a go. Just realised that I used to have the standard Podcast app on my iPhone (mostly for Infinite Monkey Cage), but haven't got anything on the Android phone now. Does anyone listen to podcasts on their Android phone? There seem to be a few different podcast apps on the Play Store, most of them for a few dollars each. So, podcast player, or does the standard Google Music or whatever player do podcasts?
BeyondPod is a must have Android app for me.

My favourite podcasts have already been mentioned; The Naked Scientists and Dr Karl on 5 Live Science.
Also subscribe to R4's Friday Night Comedy and Comedy of the Week, TIMC & BBC Inside Science.

Unfictional has some good life stories from time to time

Similarly, Josie Long's Short Cuts is worth a listen.

'We're Alive', a zombie serial. Divides opinion but I found it a jolly good yarn.

Collings & Herrin, although Collings is a fking idiot.

I wouls also reccommend 'Scroobius Pip- Distraction pieces' he has some really good interviews on there.

I was really intrigued listening to the rufus hound one, when he was talking about how the comedy/ stand up system works- getting shows released on dvd, how they get promoted etc.... and also the insight into celebrity juice and leigh francis/ keith lemon.

plus i really like pip, been to see him a few times now doing live shows and even his spoken word once.

I listen to loads of these, my favourites are probably the TED talks some radio 5 live sports extras and some of the others mentioned above.

I usually listen to them when running so the ted stuff tends to inspire me and they last about an hour which is about right.

RHLSTP! "Richard Herrings Leicester Square Theatre Podcast" on a break at the moment but soon to re-start, previous shows available - James Acaster is a good one, as is Susan Calman. His "Talking Cock" is also good - finished now but still available.

BBC Radio 4 "More or Less" which is Stats stuff in an interesting way

I used to listen to "Car Talk" but one blokes voice started to grate on me - good show though!

Graham Norton's radio show is good depending on guests and is different to his TV show. More theatre related for a start.

Many of my favourites are covered already with two notable exceptions:

Eggchasers Rugby Podcast

Irishman Abroad

Being a (Northern) Irishman "abroad" the latter will strike a chord more strongly with me; but when most interviews today are done in sound bites. Jarlaith will take anywhere up to an hour and a half to get to the heart of the story - sometimes coming back for more in later episodes. Great interview style coupled with fascinating interviewees, to me it's unmissable.
