Just watching this on the iPlayer.
The MD Martin has just said something like "The most important person in our business is the restaurant manager".
I alway thought the most important person in any business is the customer.
He gave us an inside view by accident but he meant that they are selling to addicts who will come regardless and as such the manager must make sure the "product" is available for the inevitable procession of chickaholics - to Martin the manager is key. The girl who had just worked a 14-hour shift said "who'd come here for Valentines Day?". So that's the end of her "career" then.......
I loved the awards to hard-working staff. A plastic medallion saying "winner" on a red ribbon. The saddest thing was that they seemed genuinely chuffed - what low expectations. You can just imagine the Regional Office - "it's time to give out some plastic medals Phyllis, dip your hand in the files and get me 10 random names..."

There seemed to me to be a direct correlation between that 'prize-giving' and the chickens within the sheds - most uncomfortable. I loved the awards to hard-working staff.
