Have you spotted any inconsistencies yet? Good to see a 48hr time period between death and deep fry.

average i would say, life for retail is +9 from kill days, kfc can be more than 48 hours.

scour burn to chickens is higher than stated. we kill 110 birds a day and we are small, so 3 x sheds that was shown.

the shed was standard plus grade chicken, which is a shed with windows about 80% of birds.

kfc weight birds don't live for 35 days more 28.

Just watching this on the iPlayer.

The MD Martin has just said something like "The most important person in our business is the restaurant manager".

I alway thought the most important person in any business is the customer.

He gave us an inside view by accident but he meant that they are selling to addicts who will come regardless and as such the manager must make sure the "product" is available for the inevitable procession of chickaholics - to Martin the manager is key.

DSLiverpool,

I understand what you are saying but I just found it wrong (and a bit strange) for the MD to be saying that on prime time TV.

I would have thought that he should be promoting the brand on a 1 hour BBC advert for the company rather than trying to recruit staff!

It was an accident / mistake - the corporate line is of course the customer is number 1 but to the company in reality it's keeping hold of good managers

The girl who had just worked a 14-hour shift said "who'd come here for Valentines Day?". So that's the end of her "career" then.......

I loved the awards to hard-working staff. A plastic medallion saying "winner" on a red ribbon. The saddest thing was that they seemed genuinely chuffed - what low expectations. You can just imagine the Regional Office - "it's time to give out some plastic medals Phyllis, dip your hand in the files and get me 10 random names..."

Describing Middleton as a small market town north of Manchester, rather than the industrial sthole suburb of Manchester that it truly is.

Got to be hard to motivate people on the minimum wage when you can get some really stroppy customers.

But that managers annual bash, wow. Seems they are indoctrinated from the top down. Wonder what they earn.

Up to 50k for store manager?? Holy moly they are paid well.

With an ounce of common sense and a dedicated altitude you would fly up through the ranks.

It said "up to" though. Wonder what the average is. I could not do it.

There seemed to me to be a direct correlation between that 'prize-giving' and the chickens within the sheds - most uncomfortable.

It's another one to add to the list of programmes that feature low p[aid staff.
Right up there with Pound Shop Wars and stuff like that.
