Hammond and May have been offered £1 million each to return to the show with a different guest presenter each week like have I got news for you, so that's Boris Johnson, Jo Brand and Anne Robinson!
Hope this isn't true - guest presenters don't work IMO. HIGNFY and Buzzcocks were never as good after they changed to this format.

On some occasions they have been much better, it all depends who is in the chair/presenting.

Whats the source? If true, then that suggests considerably more than the reported £500k they were on.

I'm hoping that we get to see the challeneges from the series that never made it to air smile

I think the guest presenters thing could work as long as they fond someone that JM and RH could work with and the chemistry is there. People forget that May and Clarkson have known each other a lot longer than new style top gear.

When Freddie Mercury died, the remaining members of Queen didn't ring up Front Men R US and order a new one, because any replacement may well be a better singer or performer than Freddie, but he/she wouldn't have been Freddie, so they have to pack up. Like it or not, Top Gear in its current format needs Clarkson and really he needs May and Hammond. One out, all out. If they want to reuse the brand it will have to be totally different, but it won't be as good.

Erm... but they did didn't they?

They've had long breaks, but they've never split and had 2 different lead singers since Freddie died, they toured all last summer.

Was it Lambert who 'sang' during Queen's 2014/15 New Years Eve concert on the BBC. Diabolically dire, IMO.

And Paul Rodgers did some stuff with them. I wasn't a fan of Adam Lambert to watch, but he sounded pretty good.

Yeah but there's something about the Freddie Mercury era that's just......different somehow as though.....I dunno.....it's a kind of magic?

Don't forget moving vehicle stuntman and part time singer George Michael.

They'll do it, the viewing figures will be garbage. A year later Christ will return having served his time.

I think it'll be off air for a year after its new format flops and then Clarksonius et al can return and do it all over again. I suspect in 2025 JC will commit another act of naughtiness that will see him eventually retire from TV to count his millions.
