He'd be an idiot if he did. Why do something someone else has done to death?
He'd be the David Moyes to Jeremy Clarkson's Alex Ferguson. It's a sinking ship.

Compared to Chris Evans, they're BAFTA material! I don't really understand why, when this subject comes up, everyone immediately thinks of rich celebs with expensive cars. Evans is an irritating, hyperactive child, Rowan Atkinson is pretty miserable when he's not in character, and Jay Kay would annoy the tits off of everyone.

The only person I'd like to see given a chance is Irish cheeky chappy Bob Flavin. I've always liked his style despite his self financed amateur videos. I think he'd work well. Though the Home Counties set would need subtitles at times.

I hope the BBC let the programme die. I then hope the trio set up an all new car programme on a rival channel.

All lezzing up with no car related content whatsoever?

As for Lenny Henry and Miranda they're about as funny as a diarrhea/piles combo. I'd pay not to see them.

What's with everyone saying "no, he's a journalist."? What do you think Jeremy Clarkson (and James May) did before Top Gear? Guess what? They were automotive journalists!

Works for me although I'm not sure if the first two are that way inclined.

Goffey, Woolard, Mason, Berry !

Job done, segments on old Buses for Mason, Berry does the bikery bits and Woolard and Goffey can earnestly review the latest barges and Superminis.

Topgear has only really worked due a rare and very fortunate mix of Hammond, May and Clarkson. Before them it was dying on its feet.
OK so the formula may have been pushed too far and got a bit tired over the years but you can't just replace Clarkson and believe it will carry on as it was.

To be honest you could rename the show 'Clarkson, Hammond and May' and it would probably do just fine.

No disrespect to Harris or anyone else but unless they naturally compliment Hammond and May, it'll never work..

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Sky or ITV buy the rights for a shedload of money and have all three continue to present, all their contracts are up anyhow.

I think Harris is very good at what he does, but what he does is not the same kind of thing as TG.

I might have been living in a box(?) but I don't know who Chris Harris is.
Former print journalist, at the Evo end of the market, wrote for PH for a while, now mostly produces online video reviews.

Nah, Chris Harris is awesome but don't think he would do himself any favours on Top Gear.
Harris wrote about TG yesterday, excellent piece

A good piece indeed, it's nice to see that he himself sees what many of his fans apparently cannot.

Top Gear is now dead. The BBC will just be making a bigger mistake recreating it with a different team.
This.

It jumped the shark long ago and wasn't really much fun to watch any more even with the unholy triumvirate. Clarkson & May's non-TG programmes of recent year shave been far more interesting, each of them speaking about things other than motoring about which they're knowledgeable/passionate/enthusiastic.

I'd rather the BBC used the vacuum to create something original, TG for the next generation as it were. I'd much rather see it fronted by CH than Shmee though...
