Chris Harris for Top Gear
Discussion
It looks like Chris Harris was mentioned in Jeremry's last article for the TG magazine

Top Gear is now dead. The BBC will just be making a bigger mistake recreating it with a different team.
This. It jumped the shark long ago and wasn't really much fun to watch any more even with the unholy triumvirate. Clarkson & May's non-TG programmes of recent year shave been far more interesting, each of them speaking about things other than motoring about which they're knowledgeable/passionate/enthusiastic.
I'd rather the BBC used the vacuum to create something original, TG for the next generation as it were. I'd much rather see it fronted by CH than Shmee though...
Chris Evans and Steve Coogan alone could surely do something interesting?

They've been thrashing the same jokes for years now. It was great while it lasted though.I'd rather the BBC used the vacuum to create something original, TG for the next generation as it were.
If May and Hammond won't work with anyone else the only way to preserve the format is to use someone from the existing team; Richard Porter or Andy Wilman. Both have massive input into the program and Richard sounds a decent chap on GJoS podcasts and has the same encyclopedic knowledge of cars that Clarkson has, much more so then someone who just likes to buy Ferraris and paint them white.
OK, so no one outside petrolheads have heard of them, but the same was true for Clarkson, May and Hammond at one point.

It'll become a chat show loosely theme around cars. It'll be presented my Graham Norton, Jack Whitehall + one misc female comedian that rotates the panel shows.
Car features will devolve into 'which is the best Audi to lease' and 'which car has the best automate parking system/prettiest colour'.
Best they could do is pinch Tiff, one of the ex-stigs and anchor if with Jake Humphrey. Don't try and replicate the current formate and make it more like a longform version of the recently launched PHTV

Top Gear isn't as popular in the UK as people seem to think. It's not even in the top 10 viewing figures for weekly BBC broadcasts - CountryFile gets over 1.5m more viewers. I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC just drop Top Gear altogether - no other major broadcaster has a motoring show - they are all on cable/satellite channels for a reason.
The anomaly though is how popular the show is internationally. However, I'd imagine that the reason for it's popularity is it's presenters, rather then the format of the show. I think it would be folly to attempt to continue the same format. Certainly it would be very wishful thinking to expect a different show to be as popular (and generate as much money) worldwide. They should just cut their losses and move on.

it gets 6m viewers in the UK and gens 50m a year in income from over seas sales The anomaly though is how popular the show is internationally. I think you are rather understating things. There aren't many programs with viewing figures well over 6 million even on the BBC. I also feel you are being a little disingenuous - since you appear to be classing individual episodes (e.g. of Eastenders) separately. When you look at the viewing figures for unique shows - Top Gear often appears well within the top 10 highest viewing figures. The top programs on Channel 4 and 5 have less than half of TGs viewing figures. The only ITV show that consistently gets higher ratings than TG is Coronation Street.

No.
Same here.Harris's style of presenting is too serious for a show that, as others have said, Entertainment based around cars.
IMO Top Gear is dead on the Beeb Cohen has got his wish but I reckon it will be subtly altered to be made by another TV company.
Heard someone on radio earlier describe TG as Loose Women for men which I suppose it what it became.
I would be absolutely amazed if we ever saw another episode of Top Gear or even an alternative motoring show on the same slot again.
The format of the show doesn't fit in with the BBC's anti fun, anti car agenda, I think they will just can it completely. The remaining episodes of this series will certainly never be aired.
