Just phoned Sky saying I'm not paying the increase so leaving. Hey presto they held the price as before due to a new 'special offer'. I'm (still) paying £53.75 for Family Bundle, Sports and Multiroom (we have 2 Sky boxes).

Does that seem fair?
No, you will get a lot better than that if you give your notice.

Okay, my BT TV has arrived.

Not had a massive play, but so far I'm happy enough.

The menus are at least as slick as my Sky box, with some nice graphical touches like the channel logos instead of plain text. It is reminiscent of my freesat box from a couple of years ago, as it's a humax. The wind back catch up is a nice feature, can see this being quite intuitive.

On the downside, it appears Now TV only carries films at the moment due to wrangling over money and politics between Sky and Youview/BT/talktalk. Not the end of the world, I'm looking at using my xbox 360 for GoT until they sort themselves out.

The blanket monthly subscription for their films is coming to an end, so movies are going to be a purely rent or buy option.

Will be looking into Netflix I reckon, but it always seems so difficult to actually tell what's available on there. Any links to their catalogue?

All in all, fairly happy when I take into account the net monthly saving of £59.

If anyone has any specific questions about the service, I'll press some buttons and see what I can tell you.

Thanks. I get free calls to uk numbers with BT. hence the looking for something other than the 0344 no that sky users get for free.

The other 0800 no I found was not in use any more.

Will be trying to cancel in the morning. Hoped to get on live chat before 11pm but that was always busy 😞

Most calls to 0345 numbers are free if you get inclusive calls at that time of day. That's why they were brought in? It might be worth checking if you get those calls included? Remember if you have evening and weekends (for example) then these calls will only be free from 7pm to 7am and all weekend.

I had a hunt around the BT website and found nothing conclusive and was running out of time. Didn't fancy chancing it with the stated charges on skys website.

well managed to get onto live chat this morning.

Retentions price was unfortunately still to high compaired to what I can get with BT and now TV an thats not even taking into account discounts I can get on now TV so cancelation confirmed for next month. Will see what they come back with, going to have to be in the region of 50% off to make me concider staying.

Had my first we are sorry to see you go "offer" through the post. £23.50 a month for the family bundle. I only had Sky for thesports. Wish they would hurry up and offer a sports only offer through sky go. Surely receiving TV though your internet connection is the future.

This thread has made me inspect my own Sky bill. It seems a lot, superficially, but I'm paying £30 for my programmes, plus Talk, calls and broadband. A total of about £60. Is that over the odds? When people quote their costs here are we including other Sky products or just telly?

Chatted to a BT Openreach guy today outside the new builds. Looks like the new builds probably have FTTP, though my place will just have FTTC. Still that's a possible 70mb dload.
