Had a letter through today telling me that they want to add £4.75 per month to my current £36 deal. I'm tied into the basic package until September, but this was a good reminder to cancel the sports now the Prem only has another month to go.

I did the cancelling on line and each item (the full sports package and the extra they charge for HD sports) was offered at half price if I kept them. I'm not bothered about the summer sports coverage so I was happy to click through and complete the cancellation.

called Sky to renegotiate the package - their cancellation department has been busy. Small discount offered did not entice me to stay with them. Feel liberated. Now I have to work out best option to watch F1.

There are some very good deals on Now TV boxes with bundled Sky Sports 24hr passes that come up quite frequently.

The come back to sky offer on my MySky homepage is now 50% off any bundle on a 12 month contract.
I've been offered 50% off but looking in the t&cs it's 35% off I'm guessing it down to the bundles.
I had exactly that too.
But when I called them they happily honoured the 50% off.
I think the T&Cs are just linked from the older offer.
Spoke to sky today they were happy to offer the 50% off so I signed up for 12 months.

Currently have all my services supplied by Sky and have been a customer for 23 years. BT infinity has finally arrived in my area and it appears that I can achieve 74-76 Mbps with a guaranteed 74 Mbps. Adding their entertainment plus package as well comes out at £57.99.
Called Sky to see if they were prepared to match it and even after applying a measly discount, came back and said they could offer me 38 Mbps fibre with my current package (entertainment only, no movies or sport) for £74, best offer.
Told him to complete the cancellation and wished him all the best. Switched to my other tab with my BT order in it and clicked complete. Ciao SKy.

For everyone who is renewing at the moment, are they offering any discounts on Sky Q?
I have been scratching round various sites whilst planning my Sky cancellation game of poker and the general assumption is that youve no chance as its still new and fresh
Also I heard if you negotiate a discounted package then switch to Q you lose the discount.

yes Correct. But only for the full packages. If you have standalone movies or sport, then those discounts carry over. Pretty daft.

Not completely daft - there's no direct equivalent between the base Sky+HD packages and the Sky Q ones.

Depends on your viewpoint. If you have the complete single package, there's no discount. But if you have the package made up of various packages there is a discount.

I'm on the chat with them now. An hour and a half in. I'm not sure I'm going to save more money than this is costing me.

2 hours. Wouldn't go below 25% discount so cancelling.

I really should've started that during working hours. BT TV here I come!

I checked 'my offers' on their website and it said 35% off for a year so I tried to complete online but it kept failing so I rang them, he was very helpful but as there was no code for the 35% they couldn't honour it. He spoke to his manager and I ended up with 25% off and £40 on my account. Not the best saving as the % only applies to certain items in your package so only a £10 or saving a month with essentially a month free.

I thought that you pretty much got offered a 35% discount as standard - certainly was the case when I cancelled (also says on the mysky page) and I wasn't even fishing for one. I have to say that the process was pretty painless (as I was just interested in cancelling, not getting a better deal) and was probably over and done with in 15 mins.

Apparently you can get offered 50% closer to, or just after, cancellation.

I decided to stay with Sky, will review again in 12 months after deal ends, and will reconsider Virgin

If it helps:

Previously
paying £100 per month for:
Variety with Sports & Movies HD £75.75
Sky Broadband Unlimited £7.50
Sky Talk Line Rental £17.40

Now, after price increase
paying £70 per month for:
Family with Sports & Movies £37 (50% off)
HD Pack £6 (50% off)
Sky Fibre Unltd £10 (50% off)
Sky Talk Line Rental £17.40
Multiscreen £12 including Sky go extra (which will be useful)

plus I got an extra recordable HD box free and free install

My favourite bit was when, having had a 40% discount, he wanted to check I was ok with losing the 25% loyalty discount he was offering me by cancelling. hehe

30 days left to get through the recordings and order BT TV - which looks very good value. Worst thing about it is I'm going to have to sort the aerial out.

It just shows how successful Sky has been when lots of people no longer have an aerial on their roof (which was ubiquitous 'when I were a lad') - but a dish on the wall which is more complicated and expensive to install. I would go so far as to say that dish installation must be on around 50% or more of all homes now (nearly all subsidised by Sky).

You should be able to get a decent roof aerial installed for around £75-£100. Depending on your needs you might want to get it split off to a couple of other rooms in the house too, not just the living room/lounge. The PVR box that BT give you will be able to record two freeview channels at once which combined with the Freeview tuner in your TV which you'll be using for 'live' viewing means you should rarely have a recording conflict.

Also, your Sky box will convert to a 'Freesat' style box when the sub is deactivated so you can pick up a few extra channels there too, as well as giving you guaranteed reception of the traditional 'terrestrial' channels.

I tried my best without calling the cancellation department, no offers on MySky so it was off to the callcentre...

I was paying £47, due to go to £50 for the Sports+F1 only - it's now to be £38 for 12months and not in contract so I can still think whether to ditch the lot and use NowTV for the F1. I think I'll try that one weekend and see how it looks before I do anything else.

Was paying £76/month for TV, Movies & Sport non-HD. Cancelled 30 days ago, everything went off this morning.

Called and was offered TV, Movies & Sport HD for £40/month with £50 credit so £35.83/month effective. Happy with that.

Just a heads up for those of you who've switched to BT. They've announced price rises for everyone from July (10 months after their last increase)
Anyone with unlimited infinity 1 & line rental paying normal price will see a £4 a month rise.

They are increasing usage allowances on the capped packages and upgrading everyone to the 55/10 Infinity 1 option from 40/10.
