Another Sky Price Increase
Discussion
I just completed a very similar deal. No Movies for me (would never watch them) but anytime calls instead, £70.15 all in. Happy with that.

I'm going against the norm here, but I've just signed up for another 12mths. I spoke to a nice Scottish lady in retentions. I politely said the cost was an issue now my offers were expiring and what could she do, within 5mins she rang me back with an 'existing customer loyalty' price for TV on my existing package, coupled with some current offers. So it shapes up as follows:
Half price top level 'Box Sets' TV package - £19
Half price Fibre Unlimited - £10
Half price Sky Sports pack - £13.75
Half price Sky Cinema pack - £4.50
Sports HD pack - £6
Line Rental - £17.40
Total - £70.65 a month
If I want I can add Fibre max for half price (another £5 a month) at a later date. Q isn't quite there for me yet with its features/content, so no point adding £12 a month for that, but again she said I could add at a later date and there would also be discount on that £12 a month.
All in all very happy.

Been out of contract for a few months and a sky customer for 13 years so gave them a call to negotiate this morning.
Not got Movies or Sport (except F1 as part of a legacy HD package), broadband and phone, and pay £80.90, best they could offer me, keeping everything in the package the same was £72.09 for 10 months.
Virgin's closest package is £57.99 for 12 months.
Wouldn't drop the extra tenner so pulled the trigger on cancelling, didn't really want to but let's see if a better offer arrives before I have to ring back and retract it,

Check your My Sky section on Sky.com, some have said they get an offer in there, sometimes 50 or 60% off.Not got Movies or Sport (except F1 as part of a legacy HD package), broadband and phone, and pay £80.90, best they could offer me, keeping everything in the package the same was £72.09 for 10 months.

Been getting calls from a Derby number (01332 387201) for a week, googled the number and it appears to be a sky number for cancelled customers, so when it called me and I was at home with the time to take the call I answered it and a quite favourable deal has been struck, no contract tie in, and nearly a 50% discount for a year.

Apologies for not reading the whole thread , and it's more than likely already been mentioned but downloading Kodi onto your smart TV will give you free movies/sport etc
But is also not entirely legal, stream quality varies highly or even isn't in English at times and it can be difficult to find what you want.Flip Martian said:
Totally given up with Kodi when it comes to live things. Stuff that works fine 1 day doesn't the next time I load it up. Maybe its 1 of those where you have to keep various things updated or download new configs or something but if you just want something that works, its a faff.
I agree with this, but I have been told the latest version of Kodi has the auto-update thing sorted. That with a simple setup (ie 3-4 plugins rather than a whole "build") might be worth a look? I'm going to give it another go when I get some time.wiggy001 said:

Interesting. I still have it on my macbook so will give it a go and update it when I have some time then, ta.westtra said:

That's interesting. What does it cost please?
Just had a look online. Only cost for me on my current discount is the price of the boxes with no increase in multi room subscription cost of £49. They don't seem to make any mention of Sky Q silver any more, has this marketing been changed already???

The box I have tends to have the auto updates. Live football can be a bit hit and miss and often you have to try various feeds but normally the quality is ok. Films and TV programs have no issues and often you can find them at 1080p
