I gave up on Sky tv some time ago and replaced with Freesat, Now tv and recently Netflix.

I still use Sky for phone and broadband though and managed to negotiate the following in spite of the recent price rise:-

Line rental
Anytime calls to landlines and mobiles
Fibre max

£37 per month. Sound reasonable?
I got all the above plus sky Q 1tb box, ent package and HD pack for less than that

I just checked what’s available in my area. Looks like I could save a bit but I’m not sure I want to change to Now tv or Talk Talk given their service reputations:-

Sky have just increased our bill to £29.20 per month. We only have the main package and HD. They want £200 to "upgrade" to Sky Q and an extra £10 per month for the privilege. Would love to know how others are getting a better deal.

Head over to the 'other' sky thread for a comparision.

Basically phone up and threaten to leave, speak with retentions and get a deal. My recent new member deal was:

So, £35/month gets me:
Signature package
Sky Cinema
Entertainment
Box sets
2x Netflix
All sports
All HD channels
2x Sky Go
1TB sky Q
FREE install

It seems that we are being asked to foot the bill for increased footballers wages:-

I'm thinking of switching to freeview. Anybody here done this?
My old granny used to say "vote with your feet".

By God she was a tedious woman .

You need to do it towards the end of your contract or when they increase the price mid term.

Actually looks like our contact is up in May, so maybe we will be able to get something out of it.

Good luck to any one trying to contact Sky at the moment.
I've just spent 3 weeks sorting out changing my TV package and moving my phone and broadband over to them.

Promised Signature Tv , anytime calls and superfast broadband for £40m 18 months all set up fees free.
When It all went live my bills showed £60 set up fees on the first month and £47month after
After 3 calls and 2 failed promises to sort it I've finally got it set at no fees and £37 month.

Getting through on the phone the last time (Fri 27th) you were greeted with "due to the current crises we are only tacking calls from vunerable people and emergency's"

Just keep saying you want to cancel and the deals just keep getting cheaper, but check your bill!

Sky's call centres are massively down on staff - under half normal levels in the UK and the Indian overflow call centres are closed.

Trying to cancel can be challenging at the moment. Is there a way of cancelling online or by email?

What happens if you simply stop the direct debit/standing order?

If you do that you ought to back it up with a letter stating that your cancelling and cancelled the direct debit.

Usually a negative impact on your credit history.

You need to cancel either by phone or letter.

I've never seen Sky mentioned on any of my credit reports - Equifax, Experian and one other I forget the name of. . Why would it impact on your credit history unless it goes all the way through to a CCJ?

it can show as a missed payment and, of course, a CCJ if they want to go that far.

I’m finding myself buying Sky Sports passes because I’m home so much at the moment.

I have Freesat and Now tv. Thinking of a way of subscribing just to Sports.

Jesus I bet they're well expensive? I've been using my mates Sky Go for about a year now, got Prime as well so that's most of my football. Anything on BT I just stream and I can plug my laptop into the tv so no different really, the streams have been spot on 90% of the time for the past few months.
