If it's there to be hit, Tim will have a go smile

Well that was absolutely delightful. What a beautiful canal, I reckon the prettiest we've had so far. And by the sound of it, the last.

Tim didn't hit too much this time, but there was sweet FA traffic - really surprising given the beauty of the place.

A very enjoyable and informative episode. I do get the feeling that this may have been the last series as well. It seems they are getting a bit too old and frail now to manage the locks.

Not watched it yet, but the Monty will be something when it's complete.

Just started watching and realised it's a different canal!

There's life left in them yet, as a new series starts this evening at 8 o'clock on Channel 4.

Timothy West and Prunella Scales return for another edition of their water-bound travel series, beginning this particular leg in Egypt. They set off on the River Nile from Luxor to Aswan. Along the way, the couple uncover the secrets of the ancient civilisation and discover how some of the earliest canals were used to build the temple at Karnak. Timothy and Prunella also visit a Nubian village, purchase aphrodisiacs in the souk and dance by moonlight.

Bumper evening, with Simon Reeve on the other side, who's always worth a watch IMHO.

Tim W keeps going on about Pru's condition like it makes him feel important.

I think Pru's just trying to forget about TW, and imagining what life would have been like with a former French beau.

Tim was looking even more doddery than before. Sadly whichever of them goes first, the other won't be far behind we reckon.

You're not wrong. Fair play to them making the most of their last few years at Channel 4`s expense though. Great Sunday evening viewing too.

True, great viewing, as long as there are no unfortunate "like a horse" consequences. rofl

I loved the way Pru was holding the Egyptian guide’s hand walking around the ruins. Sweet gesture.

I've just watched it. I like the UK ones the best. Plus we've been a couple of times to the Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port and it's very good.

Was it just a bit of 'deja vu' or were there some clips from old canal journeys cut in?
