I don’t know. It was at its best when they worked together. This talk of “separate iterations” sounds like they will be turning more stuff out independently.

I love Red Dwarf but I think we have to accept that its time has passed and it won’t be back to its former glory.

Yeah. The original series was getting tired around season 6/7 and the newer stuff was by and large utter bilge.

I can't see these "new iterations" being any good.

Agreed, series six was the last good series, with Gunmen of the Apocalypse and Out of Time being two of my favourite episodes. The scary thing is this series was released 30 years ago....

There was a long break until series 7 and to be honest I never really enjoyed it again after that. It was done at series 6, anything released after this is just trying to relive the glory days and failing miserably.

A lot of media, especially comedies, are very much of their time and even if you bring back all those involved you can't recapture that lightning in a bottle moment. Just as with music, where being in your 20's and singing about rocking on and partying hard is cool but doing so in your 50's is just kindof sad, as the years pass it just comes across as people trying to cling to their past achievements.

Bit of info just seen on twitter.

All the red dwarfs are now on BBC iplayer. Including ones made on other channels I believe.
