Daredevil got pretty dark and grim in the 70s.

I think he was one of the first to do it, which gave rise the the later darker versions of various popular characters, like The Dark Knight Returns.
I got interested in Daredevil just as Frank Miller began writing it, in about 1980. That was the point when it became dark, and the violence felt more brutal, and the Kingpin became a villain with depth.

I just finished ep8 and I'm pausing just long enough to post this before ep9.

Vincent d'Onofrio is excellent as the villain, with a back story which is brilliantly told in ep8, with his mother's bruises becoming more evident as the episode progressed. I wasn't sorry when he hammered his father.

Finished them all now.

Pretty good, the first few episodes were the better part for me, but the last couple have had proper "holy st!" moments.

The death of Ben and the shooting of Wesley.
I really did not think that the trigger would be pulled once, let alone 5 fking times!

I agree with both of those, very surprising.

Ben actually is quite a prominent figure in the comics, and is a major voice in the telling of the Civil War comics. I expected this to be his introduction to the film/tv canon, and that he would continue in the upcoming movies. Seems I was very wrong biggrin

Just finished watching this overall I enjoyed it. Not sure whether the Netflix block release suits my viewing style or not as I tend to binge watch.

I'm not sure it's good for my sleep pattern, as I tend to binge watch as well laugh

But I'm currently on episode 12 and absolutely love it!

Yeah that's where I am now, my initial vaguely positive impression is kinda blown out of the water a bit as it's notching up very nicely indeed. Very much enjoying it with good writing, menacing kingpin and great cinematography.

The sidekick/partner is still a vaguely annoying weiner though.

I thought it was the best superhero series ever TBH. The character development was spot on and I loved the way they tried to show the justification for the bad guy's motives which really gave him some depth; nice touch that.

Can't wait for the next season.

I really like the baddies girlfriend, just seems completely different to the norm, seemed more house of cards the way she reacted and the things she said.

yes

I was a little let down by his final confrontation with DD especially after seeing him decapitate a man with a car door when a little annoyed, but his final scene staring at the wall is a great touch.

And i find myself siding with him much more than i should do as he's the bad guy, aside from the fight in Episode 2 i think my favourite scene might be Fisk confessing what happened with his father to Vanessa and her telling him to effectively man up and get his st together.

I'm up to ep 8, and so far it has been really very good. The tone of it is right, and its good that its not holding back on the fight scenes. As said already, the one take fight at the end of episode 2 was very The Raid biggrin . Ep 8 with Wilson FIsk's back story put some proper depth into him. If this is the standard for Marvel/Netflix series, I'm looking forward more now to Jessica Jones and the others that are coming.

A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
Krysten Ritter (Dont Trust The bh at Apartment 23, Jesse's girlfriend in Breaking Bad) as Jessica Jones, a former superhero, now a detective. David Tennant as the bad guy, Purple Man.

Finished it. Really enjoyed it. Someone earlier on this thread posted that the final episodes here aren't as great as the early ones which is, IMHO, bang on.
