I still think thgis film is gonna get it's clock cleaned by Civil War, but I'll watch it.

Yep that looks much better and restored my faith somewhat although one slight snag is that although the fight scene at the beginning with Batman taking on a group of bad guys looks very cool, how is he able to fling people around with abandon, he has no superpowers?
Because he is the goddamn Batman Guvernator said:

Well, there's two things to it:1) As per the lore, he's trained in dozens of martial arts and is at the peak of human ability (which might stretch a bit for a movie of course).
2) That was his regular gear, but it might be enhanced a bit (exoskeleton that assists woven into the suit?)
3) Because he's Batman.
Ever seen First Blood?
Batman is basically a SF type, he is the best that the SAS/Seal-6 would have, so I don't have too much trouble thinking he can beat up a bunch of yo-yos...so long as it shows he takes punishment and isn't invincible, i's about being fastest and smartest.
From what I've read about fights, it isn't necessarily a done deal when a large group faces a highly skilled individual. So long as the bloke keeps his head and knows where to move, hesitation and space cause issues for multiple attackers. That fails if there's a batman in the group.
It's one of the things I love about the fight scene from Jack Reacher.

I'm not so worried about him taking out a group of guys as it is "just" within the realms of possibility for a well trained human, I was more talking about the fact that he seems to be able to fling huge grown men 10 feet in the air and through walls\objects etc which is a bit of a stretch for someone with no superpowers. I should just switch my brain off and just say "It's Batman" but even in a film about superheroes etc my analytical brain can sometimes get in the way. I figure the real reason is that he is about to go toe-to-toe with Superman later on in the film so they have to make it seem like he is a credible threat. The ability to up or downscale a heroes power at a whim or as the story dictates is normal behaviour in the comics so I shouldn't be too surprised.

Yeah, it'd annoy me too. This new one...has he gone back to tights?
The film looks interesting but I dont really get the premise (not knowing the comic book worlds too much).
Superman is invincible yes and can destroy anything he wants to without thinking? and Batman is just a man in a suit? How could this ever play out?!
Whats the point in Batman even trying? Is the point that Superman wont fight back because he is good to his core hence the 'if I wanted it, you'd be dead already' comment?

I always say this but apparently due to the overwhelming popularity of the Batman character, he gets a crack at the title in the comics and in this film too. There will be some spurious reason as to how he can manage to go toe-to-toe with Supes as alluded to by my post above and it looks like he will be wearing a special suit. You are right though in that it should still be VERY one sided no matter what he wears but as with most things to do with this kind of stuff, it's probably best not to over analyse it. The simple answer is people want to see the two most popular DC characters fight so they jump through illogical hoops to make it happen.
They showed the trailer for this alongside the 'Queen' Suicide Squad trailer last night before Deadpool. Whilst I'm sure financially BvS will 'win', I think the 'sideline' movies actually have a chance of making a bigger impact long term.
Between Deadpool, Guardians, Ant Man, Suicide Squad (potentially) etc, I'm more interested in the off-shoots which have more freedom to push the boundaries/do something different than the marquee characters. And this is coming from somebody who has never read any DC/Marvel and has little idea of how it all slots together.

I think in the original comic, Batman said something in the lines of: "Deep down, Clark is a good person. And I'm not".
But in the end, he's a mosquito fighting a devout Buddhist.
Anyone a bit of a fan of Batman/Supes should see "The Dark Knight Returns", two part animated movie. Batman vs Superman was very well done imho.

There is logic Behind how Bats beats Supes in that comic.
You say that but it's still a twisted comic book logic which is used to substantially even the playing field. It has so many plot holes in it but they have to do that otherwise it's no contest and it would be over before Batman could blink (literally).Guvernator said:

You bit... It's not twisted at all (and Supes gets uppowered/downpowerd on a regular basis).
He has some sort of climate sun thing almost kill him, so he's vastly reduced, and then there is Oliver and the kryton arrow, and Bats has the power of a grid (city/seaboard?). No plot holes.

Sorry probably not explaining myself properly, not plot holes per se but just stuff that is used to de-power him that would be highly improbable in a proper match-up. I know why they do it as without it, it would be a pretty boring match-up and over before it started but it never sits quiet right with me.It's not twisted at all (and Supes gets uppowered/downpowerd on a regular basis).

That's why I always prefer it when Superman goes up against similar powered beings as they don't need to jump through hoops to make it an even fight.

Well, it fits in with Batman's MO, all of it is planned by Batman. It's not some plot device, no, it's the window Batman takes advantage off.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
