I'd give it a solid 7/10.

Affleck is outstanding as Batman, to the point where I wish it had been him in the Nolan films.

Gadot is badass as WW, Irons is masterful as Alfred. Cavill still looks too bulked up to be Supes IMO.

Jesse Eisenberg is brilliant as a very deranged Lex.

Will wait to discuss other bits until more have seen it.

I take it your not familiar with the source material i.e. the comics and are just judging this on the films that have gone before but in the comics he is VERY bulked up. If anything, in MoS I'd say he still wasn't big enough. From pics I've seen of DoJ he looks about right now.

Looks like the film is an utter turd. Getting terrible reviews, Rotten Tomatoes currently at 36%....

Pah film critics, what do they know? The audience reaction still appears to be mostly positive so I'll keep my hopes up. Not long to find out for myself anyway.

The thing about selective point of view is totally ignoring the 9.6 on imdb.

Go see it yourself and make your own mind up.

We have a partnership with Warner Brothers for BM v SM, and 3 of my team went to the UK premier last night (I couldn't make it, but I'm off to a pre-screening early next week)... they had a good time, but all have said the film is a bit meh.

To be fair MoS was a 7/10 film at best if I'm honest but I still enjoyed it. As long as this is the same or preferably a bit better, I'll be happy.

MOS a 7/10?

I would give it a 5 at best. One of the poorest of the comic book films.

Yeah I know the comic Supes, but for me that's the comic book look. In DoJ in certain scenes he just looks silly IMO. MoS was alright, size wise.

Hmm weird. For me the comics are the ultimate source material so the closer they get to those with the movies the better for me which means big Supes. Although again you could argue that's quite a modern trait. The older Superman comics certainly don't have him quite so muscle bound.

As for MoS it's the best interpretation of Superman I've seen on screen so far. Yes it might not have the heart or the magic of Christopher Reeve's performance in 1 and 2 but the technology just wasn't their in the 80's to make a convincing Superman movie.

It got some stuff wrong in terms of the traditional Superman character which put lots of old fans nose out of joint but as a modern interpretation, it got a lot right too, all IMO of course. smile

Whereas I'd happily give it a 7 or 8 and would rather re-watch it than many of the Marvel films. It certainly seems to divide opinion.

Man of steel was a massive disappointment for a whole bunch of reasons. Firstly and unfortunately Henry is more of a man of wood then a man of steel. The editing seemed to think it was okay to leap as, has become fashionable, from scenes in the past to the future. For me the scenes from young Clarks past were far more interesting than the eminently forgettable story that followed. The first half hour of the film is wasted focusing on Russell Crow fighting in a CGI fest whilst riding a flying dinosaur. Everyone now knows Superman's origin. He didn't need telling again it's certainly didn't need telling to make up a fifth of the new film.

The idea of having the three superpowered kryptonian this was in essence a good one. They had introduced Faora, and underused character from the superman back catalogue. This characters back story is that amongst other things she is a master of the kryptonian martial arts. This should have made her more than a match for Superman, who has never been shown how to fight as he can rely on his strength and powers.

All of this potential completely overlooked, wasted in the film. It was barely worth introducing the character at all. The actress cast to play Lois Lane has zero charisma and even less chemistry with the wooden Mr Cavill. I walked into man of steel almost preprogrammed to enjoy it. I've been a reader of the comics since I was a kid. When the fight kicked off in Metropolis towards the end I soon they would pay homage to Superman 2 and show Henry leading the villains a way to avoid collateral damage to the populace.

I now appreciate the decision to show metropolis get trashed was deliberate and allows for the set up of this film. Fair enough. However watching Superman decide to snap Zod's neck during the end fight was, for me heavy handed And unnecessary. Superman did kill in the comics 20 years ago. However his reasons for doing so was set up with a lot more clarity and better storytelling .

The end of man of steel reminded me of a rehash of matrix revolutions. In itself not good film. Mr Snyder doubtless makes pretty looking films. But it's all about the screenplay, it's all about the story. I fear Dawn of justice is going to be lacking in both areas. I can well imagine Mr Affleck is going to make a convincing Batman I just hope that's enough to carry the rest.

Affleck being outstanding as Batman seems to be the only positive coming out of the critics reviews so far...

Well stuff all the naysayers, I'll be seeing it tomorrow night and I'm ALMOST as excited as I was for Star Wars. It's a Superman film, how bad can it be? (No one mention Superman Returns wink)

In my opinion that film is right up there with Superman 2, a million miles ahead of MoS. Totally respect everyone else will call me crazy but that's the joy of cinema, there is something out there for everyone!

It does have it's high points admittedly. Some of the visuals are fantastic and I think Routh was a better Superman\Clark Kent then Cavil, it's a shame he only got the one shot at it. The plot however was very poor, Lex with basically the same plan as in Superman 1, Superman the creepy stalker, Superman's kid, all low points IMO plus Superman doesn't actually do a lot expect lift consecutively heavier objects.
