It does have it's high points admittedly. Some of the visuals are fantastic and I think Routh was a better Superman\Clark Kent then Cavil, it's a shame he only got the one shot at it. The plot however was very poor, Lex with basically the same plan as in Superman 1, Superman the creepy stalker, Superman's kid, all low points IMO plus Superman doesn't actually do a lot expect lift consecutively heavier objects.
Yeah pretty much. A bog-standard plot, no real bad guy, some fking soap-lovey stalker st. A complete waste of time apart from the aeroplane thing, just what the frack were they thinking?

Affleck being outstanding as Batman seems to be the only positive coming out of the critics reviews so far...

I enjoy most superhero films and I'm fine with the necessary suspension of disbelief, but my immediate reaction to the ads/trailers etc, is that the premiss is just plain stupid and I'm (we) being manipulated by the studio using, perhaps two of the biggest names in this genres, to double up.

Please, tell me I'm wrong and that there is a plausible premiss underneath the hype.
I'm afraid you could be out of luck. I don't think there is a plausible premise for a film about a super powered alien fighting a costumed vigilante in an imaginary city. It's all about as realistic as East Enders.

Saw this this morning after the 9:15 showing of Man Of Steel last night at Ashford.
Was very impressed with it, and how much was twisted from the trailers that have been released biggrin

And was quite impressed with Ben Aflecks portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman

Saw this a minute ago.

I know it's hammed up a bit. But the video of Afflecks's face. He must be thinking about Gigli and why his favourite part of all time As batman is getting all the negative press.

Still going to go and see it and most fans say it's good.

But no likes a rotten score on tomatoes. frown poor Ben

Well that was quite disappointing, a mish mash of comic book (overrated) classics shoehorned together...badly.

I don't see how DC\WB can build a Marvel style universe from this.

The cameos for Cyborg, Aquaman etc where again just wedged in there, and why did we need the near 2 hours of build up, could they not have put something interesting in there instead? Lex also just seemed to be a plot point, the character was just weird.

And the biggest plot point, our mums have the same name......

But mostly, why do DC films have to be so joyless?

Just home from watching BvS. Really enjoyed it. Hell of a lot going on, probably too much some fan boys, but I liked it.

as mentioned takes a long while for the fight to happen, and resolving it over the fact that their mums have the same name is a bit lame. Wonder woman was also very cheesy in my opinion.

Oh dear. Not bad but really not good. There's a good plot in there but the delivery is a mess and there's far far too much Justice League crowbarred in. Eisenberg is NOT good with a capital Zuckenberg, Carvill is Carvill and the finale is a Transformer-esque CGI blur fest. Too many flashbacks/dreams too, particularly in the context of this movie alone rather than the DC universe.

Ironically the things people moaned most about, Affleck and Gadot, are the only redeeming features.

I am a huge Batman fan. All the films, animation and an obnoxiously large comic collection read and stored. We drove down to San Diego to watch it with table service at Cineopolis. I wasn't hoping for much but was prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

It was truly awful. The most obvious thing is that Affleck has no business anywhere near a Batman film. He belongs in films playing a dad in a minivan. No surprise though, I said as much back on August 23rd 2013 when the casting director confirmed Ben Affleck. Cavill was as expected, dry, poor acting and basically just cashing in on the fact he is the current Superman. He is quite happy with this situation btw and I don't blame him if he is on a base + a % of the box office!!

The way they hinted at characters (Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Cyborg etc) as if they were going to be in the film was nothing short of criminal. It's a weak film that is just a cash grab and promo for future films to rob DC fans and film goers of more money. The plot was awful, the fact Superman and Batman actually fought was laughable considering it only took one to tell the other what was going on immediately. Let's not even start with Lex Luthor who, until it was known he was in fact Lex, I would have sworn was supposed to be Edward Nigma (The Riddler). Utter shyte. The entire cinema emptied with everyone cursing the film.

To quote the radio on the drive back to L.A "there wasn't a single sunny day in that film".

This film is like a crappy haunted house where people go in with promises of something and come out thoroughly miffed and see an endless line of punters all excited to go in as they consider asking for a refund. The choice is to warn them or let them suffer as you have.

Absolute pile of cack. ANY of the Batman/Superman animated films pee all over this mess.
3/10 and that's just for the effects.

As an Oscar winning director himself I imagine he already new that the movie was a bit of a mess before anyone had an opportunity to review it.

Almost all of the reviews I've seen have agreed that he's the best thing in the film anyway and quite a few are suggesting the best screen Batman ever, which with Keaton and Bale as competition is quite a compliment I think.

I'm hoping that when they do the next solo Batman film he helms it as per the rumours as I've really enjoyed all of the films he's directed.

In retrospect this morning I'm even more annoyed about this movie as I'm convinced there's a real bones of a great BvS in there, the plot would work with a bit of work, trim the dream sequences, but more action, recast Luthor, come up with a better way to end the fight(!!!)

Frustrating.

I've put way more thought into this than a man in his forties should. It's been a bad year for me with childhood heroes. Han Solo gets treated like a jeremy kyle contestant, they make a mad max film which although good doesn't actually have mad max in it and now this.

Went back and watched a few clips of the nolan stuff this morning. Difference is striking.

Also as a ps, go watch the new lego batman film trailer. Totally different but oddly satisfying.
