Anyone disappointed with the film should check out 'batman the dark knight returns'. A far more satisfying animated tale of batman vs superman.

Yeah I thought that was actually a much more believable plot. You could see where Snyder had referenced it at times, too- I smiled when Superman caught Batman's bullet.

Some other animation news, the animated film Batman: The Killing Joke has been given an R rating, it will be out on DVD/Blu-ray/digital later in the year. No plans for a PG13 edited version. http://www.comingsoon.net/dvd/news/676759-batman-t...

I see the early reviews of Civil War are drawing less than complimentary comparisons to BvS...
Meaning it's much better?

They aren't though. CW is getting rave reviews. Like ridiculously good reviews. Some even calling it the best of the Marvel films yet

I suspect that the comparisons to BvS were that Civil War is how you show the conflict between 2 sides of the good guys without being retarded

I heard Marvel are stressing. DC have stolen their big ending for Civil War. Both Iron man and Cap have a best mate named James. That's the twist. Spoilers etc...

First 10 minutes of the directors cut here

So much potential. How did it go so wrong?

Sorry, that was funny.

Wayne:"I'm calling you to say you need to leave the building."
Employee: Looks out the window, entire city is being destroyed right in front of the building "Ok, guys the boss says we need to leave the building."

Having only seen the ultimate edition and not the original release I thought it was pretty good.

You might be able to argue about some bits of it but it held together pretty well and no massive holes in the story beyond the sort of thing you could argue about in any DC/Marvel film.

The Cyborg/Aquaman intro was a bit noddy & unnecessary but the other bits were OK. The 'Knightmare' / alternate future felt a bit dropped in at random but a nice enough thing in itself & reference to bits of various comics.

Unsurprisingly lots of DKR bits in there but at least took the route of having a new story not just following the original.

The ultimate edition isn't available yet. How have you seen it?

I watched the ultimate edition last night too. I quite enjoyed it.
I'm only just learning a bit about the DC universe and the seemingly infinite number of characters within. I think you really need to read a few wiki's about this before watching to just give a flavour of the bigger picture (which is bloody massive).

Definitely not a brain out and watch film. Long and quite complex so you need to pay attention, you can't watch it whilst playing candy crush.
