Timelines are still a little off, as we are supposed to believe that this was literally just before ANH, yet Luke and Leia are perhaps in their early 20's.....Ergo Obi Wan should perhaps have only been 45-50, yet in ANH he is patently it least in his 70's.
Obi-Wan was ~25 in Ep1. The next two films took place over the course of ~13 years (which would make him 38 in Ep3 when Luke and Leia were born.

If Luke and Leia are 20 in ANH - that would make Obi-Wan ~58, slightly younger than Alec Guinness was when he played the role (63)

Also - you are assuming people in the SW universe age at the same rate wink

Ages are fine. I reckon living on a stbox like Tattorine would age a person.

James Bond was Indy's dad, and was 12 years older. biggrin

Saw it earlier with my daughters, really enjoyed it. I had tried as much as possible to avoid learning anything about it, so I knew nothing about the CGI Tarkin and Leia. I thought Tarkin was done really well, they could have just done a few shots from a distance, but I like the fact that they didn't shy away from using the character as much as they did. As mentioned earlier, definitely through and over the uncanny valley, and showed the confidence they had in the CGI.

I thought Ben Mendelsohn was excellent

Perhaps someone can confirm this - when Jyn was walking through Jedha with Cassian, and bumps shoulders with the ugly guy with the big eye, is he the "you'll be dead!!" guy from the cantina in Ep IV?

The only thing I thought was a bit iffy was Gerrara giving up so readily from escaping from Jedha, I think he could have had a 'hero moment' and gone out with a bang.

Overall though, I thought it was great, great film. Not bothered about the anomalies and plot holes mentioned earlier, I think if they had tried to solve all those, it could have derailed the story. I just enjoyed it for what it was. I'll be watching Ep IV tonight with my youngest so she can see how it follows on.

Seeing TFA and Rogue One makes me realise how pants I think Ep I, II, AND III are.

3rd viewing, with the 10 year old nephew this time. Definitely slots in at number 2 behind ROTJ for me. I've watched them all at least twice over Christmas as Sky have a channel dedicated to them on a loop at the moment.

It hit home how 'physical' Rogue One is compared to Eps 1, 2 and 3. It's really obvious that almost everything is CG in those movies, even just the Clone Troopers a lot of the time when there is simply no need for them to not be real.

Is it me or has Darth put on weight? He just didn't look right, maybe his helmet or something.

His helmet looked dusty to me. But then the suit in Star Wars was a lil ropey, in Return of the Jedi he'd had a buff and polish.

Bit disapointed tbh.
Yeah it was full of nice geeky touches, but that's not enough.
And it had all of the cliches. Every single one. I swear if I see one more "spaceship flying low and clips something so crashes resulting in a big unrealistic slide along the terrain and everyone gets out as if nothing has happened" sequence I will scream. No sense of peril, little attachment to characters, it didn't grab me at all.

The ending was nice, space battle was fairly good, droid was great, general visuals were great....it was like a collection of good bits which failed to make a good whole. I'd hoped for better, probably shouldn't have.

Seriously? I mean, we know the plans make it out but apart from that everybody dies. How much peril do you want?!

Yep its about as perilous as a film can get.

No you aren't, I'm right there with you. Admittedly it has some decent scenes, the Hoth battle is glorious and of course the "I am your father" reveal is classic but it always feels way too morose to be a proper SW film to me. This is meant to be space opera fantasy, If I wanted to be depressed, I'd go and listen to an REM album. I remember coming out of the cinema as a wee nipper almost in tears and that feeling of sadness has stuck with me every-time I watch it now.

I also think it's very fashionable to quote ESB as your favorite ever since Kevin Smith did it and lots of people have been jumping on the band wagon ever since.
I'm with you too (although I quite like REM biggrin)

Great opening, decent ending, but an hour of nothing worth watching...

Not a patch on the first film, but that's not surprising as the first one had to stand alone and the ESB was always just a step to the Return of the Jedi...

Except that there was never any hope of them escaping - Forgone conclusion isn't the same as sense of peril smile

All I could think was of the Judean People's Front wink

PS Also agree about Peter Cushing and the Polar Express! Although it seemed better in scenes towards the end of the film.
