Dear All,

I bought a double auto-reverse cassette deck (mp what?) and timer so I could get the full show on C90s every day as my workplace frowned on radios. Then listened to it in the car commute instead of morning and evening carp.

Fancy a brew?

I still think about the last words on the final show...
"Stop"...
But no "carry on"... frown

Our Kid Eh is genius.

I only got to listen if I was in the car on my way back to work from a supplier visit. I remember nearly crashing on the Fosse Way one day because I was crying with laughter at their antics.

Best thing on radio ever. Fat Harry White, Down Count, Missing Words, True or Bluff etc. and they always played the best songs.

Utterly brilliant and I still miss them to this day.

Excellent stuff. I listen to Radcliffe and McConie on 6 music in the afternoons now which is pretty funny. Marc Riley is on in the evenings so it's not as if you have to go without completely.

Absolutely excellent. I was laughing out loud at the Frank Ifield getting covered in oily bilge water story!

Yes, "Mull of 'Kintyre" was a brilliant Classic Cut, and I've just been listening to some more "Downcount" episodes. "She's very clever for an old slapper".

I always enjoyed the quiz 'Bird or Bloke', the quiz was pretty good but just the lyrics to the theme tune were funny on their own.

Hard to believe that the last show was 11 years ago, so it is.
I feel so old now frown

Radio 1 would never have them on now as they have too much 'character' and all their sketches would get in the way of the 10 song playlist that is on repeat all day.

I've got the entire last show on the NAS drive.

I'm sure that's the one with the Mull of Kintyre on Classic Cuts.

Utter genius.
That memory has left me in tears of laughter. I remember making sure i had the last day of the show off so i could listen to it.

As mentioned the lack of "carry on" after the last "stop" was rubbish.

At the end of their last show IIRC they didn't do the handover bit properly (on purpose) so the BBC R1 back up tape thing kicked in. I think it comes on if it detects silence for x number of seconds. Mentioned by quite a few of the R1 DJs in the past. Moyles, Mills etc.

Loved that. "I've had a lovely time Mark but I'm not going to risk it. I'll take the Five Pownd."

Also Fish or Fowl. Great stuff.

I've rescued this poor lickle rabbit. He's been left all alone and is a bit smelly and has a pooey bottom.
