When the first series of For The Love of Cars was broadcast, Glenister admitted in a Radio Times interview that he isn't into cars. It is pretty obvious watching the programme that he hasn't got a clue
This.

I'm astounded that anyone on PH thinks Glenister would be OK.....or I'm clearly watching a different programme to them.
He's an irritating actor, acting the part of a presenter, isn't a petrolhead and can't drive.

Yeah, brilliant choice rolleyes

BBC just need to switch off the TG life support machine now, rather than later, as will inevitably happen with whoever they use as replacement presenters in whatever different format they try to change it to.

This looks good as well. http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2015/04/24/22363/and...
I like all the presenters and seems like an entertaining format.

Fuzz Townsend. A decent bloke who also appears to know his stuff and does show signs of life.

Yup. He comes across as someone you'd happily have a few beers with. Possibly the highest accolade that anyone can ever have.

I think the best car thing around at the moment is Roadkill.
its only on youtube and only once a month but its just 2 proper petrolheads having a laugh.

the latest episode is particularly hillarious

Roadkill is brilliant fun, and along with Jay Leno, Chris Harris, Harrys Garage and occasionally Drive ... make for some very good viewing.

There's also Petrolicious, Autocar, Evo. The Petrolicious productions are impeccably produced.

Agree with all bar Leno - I know he is a passionate car guy but it never comes across and some of his stuff leaves me cringing - Kawasaki H2 'review' anyone?

Should add Mighty Car Mods to the list.

Fuzz Townsend is an interesting call. Philip Glenister just comes across as someone acting interested in cars, while Jodie Kidd may be a car lover but she's so wooden and dull it's painful. I like Guy Martin, but I'm not sure he's a 'car reviewer', and I'm not sure the BBC should be looking to cherry pick presenters from other TV motoring shows to front new Top Gear. Harris, Jethro etc would be upto the job, but it might be a better idea to get virtual unknowns in the job rather than the likes of Dermot O'Leary, Jimmy Carr, Stephen Fry or Rowan Atkinson. That would spell the end of the show.

They can't, hence my comment above. If a presenter has a contract with another broadcaster (Guy Martin has an exclusive contract with Channel 4 and North One Productions), it doesn't matter how much they might want want someone, they won't be able to get them until their contract runs out or unless they buy out the contract and in Guy martin's case I think that's very unlikely.

The process of picking new presenters is going to take a lot more time than the papers are making out anyway. Auditions, contract negotiations, casting etc. all take time. There won't be any new Top Gear cast until 2016.

In the meantime, expect more repeats and whatever's left from series 22 hashed into something which may or may not be watchable.

Occasionally Lenos shows are a little cringworthy, but I tend to find them rather entertaining.

Never been able to get to grips with Mighty Car Mods, but thats just me.

Sorry to start another thread related to TG, but whilst having a rare night in front of the telly tonight, it struck me that we as petrolheads might actually be better off after the demise of Top Gear? 8pm, Channel 4 - For the Love of Cars, 9pm, More4 - Car SOS, 10pm, BBC2 - James May's Cars of the People. Thoughts?
Would be, if any of those shows were remotely like top gear, as opposed to having no more resemblance than a car theme.

Sort of like how a metallica gig is a music show, and biograthy on beethoven, a documentary on buskers and whatever simon cowell is doing are all music themed too.
