I already knew they would, I've put it to bed, now I can enjoy watching the car crash with morbid curiosity.

Yup, as soon as you mention that there will definitely be a woman on the show you've already lost it.

It shouldn't matter the sex of the hosts, only if they are good.

I think Chris Evans himself has gone a bit pc- as someone else said, he seems a bit too keen to please and desperate not to offend anyone.
I hope he can lighten up a bit , and I think he could be great. I know the BBC will want to tick the female box as well, lets hope they get the right person for the job and not just a box ticking exercise ( cross off Jodie Kidd- if her flat presenting style with Quentin Wilson is anything to go by).

I doubt a casting director would have put Clarkson Hammond and May together and that is the secret they appealed to a lot of different people for different reasons.
I like many will give the new show a chance because we are not over burdened Car shows but I just knw because the BBC are involved it could turn out a disaster

He probably will in his second series. I'm not a fan of Chris Evans, but he does love his cars. His chirpy attitude... is he meant to be the replacement for 'Hammond'? Plucky/ upbeat/ energetic.

They need to fill the team up with people that are competitive with eachother, but work well together. Going completely friendly/ pc would be crushing.

But I think the producers etc., will have this in mind, and they special challenges will be just as fun.

My choice, Rachel Riley...for non sexist reasons of course! Sporting, intelligent, looks good too. The downside...not sure she's so good behind the wheel (1:48 around the TG track) or knows anything about cars. But hey, these are just minor points of course.rolleyes

My guess is the anti-Evans posts above are from those who loved Clarkson and I can't really understand how someone can be so pro Clarkson and so anti-Evans. They're not really that different in terms of being outspoken and not lacking self-confidence. And the Top Gear format draws heavily on TFI and other Evans productions.
The difference is Clarkson is amusing.

And TFI nicked many ideas from across the pond.

while there may be similarities one can draw, as in anything, they're about as different as it gets, evans behind his mr.zany persona has always sought approval and played the popularity game, clarkson has a personality and F.U. if you don't like it (the fact it may or may not be hammed up for TV notwithstanding)

Yep, JC likes nature, is a keen walker and historian but if you rely on his TV persona he is the opposite. He's as contrived and ambiguous as any other famous person, who is as famous, for being famous as they are for their actual work. Not to mention the fact JC openly admits he's a 'dinosaur' or in real speak a poor excuse for being an arrogant, elitist, racist piece of st.

Keep her on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. Doubt she could justify the same outfits on Top Gear. wink

That was mentioned on the BBC3 mini-news thing as them not being allowed to make another car-related programme in the UK for two years after their contracts end.
