Errm...I have my doubts. I know in the comic universe we are used to seeing literally dozens of heroes in one story but they are all given the time to develop properly over many issues spread over many years.

Trying to fit all of those characters into one 2 hour movie without making it a complete overcomplicated mess......is asking a lot. See Spiderman 3 as a perfect example of super-overload.

Even in Avengers 2 with it's more limited cast (and I use that term loosely) a lot of the characters weren't given enough screen time. Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and the Vision were woefully underdeveloped and underused for instance.

Sometimes more doesn't equal better.

It's a single film. Avengers Infinity Wars is two films.

The risk it could get very messy is certainly there. Winter Soldier was a very tight well told story. So long as the third film totally focuses on the question of...should these powerful individuals be state controlled/regulated then it could work, it'll mean a lot of appearances should be cameos, with the brunt of the the discussion between Stark and Rogers.

I think itll be that, ie cameos or just not explaining backgrounds like the last xmen film.

I thought it was over 2 as 'chris' is filming two movies next year as cap

Having been a little disappointed with AOU, mainly because it was too overloaded, my hopes aren't very high for this.

Special effects are a given, seeing Cap take out 10 robots with one flick of the shield was great the first time, boring 50 times later, same with Ironman and Hawkeye etc.

I was excited at the Marvel line-up of films, but after AOU, I'm now a little 'meh' about it all. Whilst I know certain characters will drop out along the way, announcing the line up of films kind of takes a bit away from whats coming, as you know other certain characters will survive no matter what happens.

I know what you mean, it removes any sense of jeopardy. Individual films are kind of irrelevant now as any thing more than chapters in an overall story

Cig the story is anything like the comic book civil war. I doubt anyone will be disappointed. Civil War is the best comic book series I have read.

Yeah, I'm expecting a few deaths. Basically putting together stuff from the stories about the upcoming films and the contracts people have signed.
Should be pretty epic.

Have you watched the Winter Soldier? It's a completely different style of film to AOU and I'm pretty sure Civil War will be a similar style to it.

I'm guessing from the end of AOU that vision, warmachine, falcon, scarlet witch are set to be the new avengers with cap % black widow. They'll do a mission that will go wrong due to crossbone and it'll all kick off from that.

So a few of the mention characters might not be in it for long.

This is just pure speculation...I know nothing, but I think we'll see the deaths of...

Steve Rogers - I reckon it'll be like the comic and the Winter Solider guy (9 film contract) will be the new Cap.
Stark will die...or be severely incapacitated, and Cody Rhodes (again like the comic) will become Iron-Man.
Thor may well die in Ragnarok and maybe the power of Thor will be given to a girl?
This might well take part as part of the Infinity Wars, which I am guessing will be a barnstorming spacewide fight.

Saw the new Avengers movie last night. Was left very disappointed to be honest. Way too much going on for one film. Was a bit of a mess.

I finally got around to seeing Ultron yesterday too. I agree it was a bit "busy" but still really enjoyed it.

I dragged the reluctant missus along and even she enjoyed it, despite having zero previous interest in Marvel. So much so that we went home and watched Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Dark World biggrin Winter Soldier is up next in her education, with a view to getting her to come along to see Civil War next year.

The style of those films is quite different, I'd be interested to know, as a newbie, which she prefers.

She wasn't especially bothered by Guardians - mind you, neither was I - not at the cinema nor on watching again. She quite liked Thor - but that may just have been Chrus Hemsworth wink. Avengers was her favourite. She liked Cap as a character though so I shouldn't have to work too hard to get her to sit through Winter Soldier....

This might be how a lot of the stuff goes in the comic timeline but I think some of that at least would be a pretty big mistake.

Chris Evans IS Captain America as far as I am concerned now. He has played the character perfectly IMO and a stand in just wouldn't be the same, especially not if it's going to be the guy who played the Winter Soldier who I found very bland and lacking charisma. Good enough to play the Winter soldier as he didn't need to do much talking but not good enough to fill the Captains shoes.

Again Robert Downey IS Iron Man and Rhodes\Cheadle would make a poor stand in. He just doesn't have the same humour and style that Downey pulls of so so well.

Thor I could take or leave, Hemsworth is decent enough I guess but not irreplaceable like the other two IMO.

I'd prefer it if they killed of some of the weaker characters, Hawkeye could be one for instance as they have him set-up with his family now so just asking for it IMO smile

Personally I think

Cap will die in Civil war, Iornman to retire, Stark takes Furys role. Thor will get captured by Thanos in Ragnarok, which will force the Avengers into space for Infinity Wars.

I dont think they will put winter soldier as Cap, but he may take his role in the Avengers but as The Winter Soldier. Dont forget if they are following the comics the current Cap is here too, Falcon. Again I cant see them casting a new Cap. They may kill him off to be brought back etc.

With all the new movies I see the Avengers ending up as Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Antman, Falcon, Winter Soldier and Spiderman going on from Civil War/Infinity Wars. They have to cut the current crop otherwise there will be too many people in the group.
