Indeed. They should use Grant Gustin for Flash, he's brilliant.

DC don't tie into the TV shows at all - they have been pretty clear that the TV and movie universes are totally separate entities unlike the Marvel stuff which all takes place in a shared universe.
That's a mistake IMO. It is jarring.
Totally agree, it's like we are supposed to completely forget this actor that we have watched for several seasons, who we've invested time in and built some good will towards and replace them with some unknown who is playing the SAME character.

Marvel definitely have DC licked on this point. They actually appear to have a coherent overall plan where as DC just seem to throw stuff at a wall and see what sticks or if that fails, try to copy Marvel. It's a shame because I really like the DC universe too but they just don't seem to have anyone with a proper handle on the reigns.

Too squeaky clean for me. No 'edge'. Been done a million times in a million different TV series. Yawnsome.

But that is the Flash, he's meant to be an all American nerdy clean cut guy.

Agree.

Wait until Justice League comes out. I think they are redefining the 'throw everything at the screen at once' statement for that one wink

DC are basically watching Marvel box offices numbers and are in a panic completely missing why the Marvel movies work.

And considering the series that the Flash was spun off from a bit of lightness and levity is no bad thing.

Am I the only person here that thought Captain America: Civil War was no way near as good as Batman vs Superman? I just thought this film was lukewarm.
You aren't alone, a couple of friends who saw it also thought it was meh and one of them is a big comic fan. He thought is sagged way too much in places and places it below AoU.
Finally saw it last night and couldn't disagree more. It suffers from the same issues as many MCU films, a weak villain, but in all other areas was vastly superior to BvS. Pains me to say it as I usually prefer the darker more gritty take on things (I enjoyed MoS a lot more than most) but CW comes across as a film where the writers/directors know absolutely what they wanted to achieve and understand their characters completely. BvS on the other hand was a hugely disappointing and eye rolling mess of a film with laughable plot points and some of the worst editing I've ever seen.

Here's hoping Suicide Squad reverses the trend later this year...

That was my point. The "all American nerdy clean cut guy" type has been done to death and it's now extremely boring unless you happen to like unsophisticated/unrealistic heroes. I mean Grant Gustin comes across as the type who doesn't even pick his nose he's so squeaky clean.

Second viewing, took the wife along this time and she looked at me and mouthed 'wow' when Bucky jumped the motorbike...that's why I married her, my favourite moment in the film!

Only issue with the second viewing was that I was itching to get to Black Panther, Spider-Man and Ant-Man (ok, the airport scene) and ithat sequence didn't last nearly long enough, pure joy.

Finally saw this last night (early release on Sky) - really enjoyed it, every bit as good as it promised to be. Forgot to watch to the end of the credits though, so will have to look out for that tonight.

Only bit that jarred slightly was Martin Freeman's role - not how he played it, or the character itself, just odd seeing 'the guy from the office' cropping up like that.

Very recommended to anyone that hasn't seen it yet.
