I'm just not sure how a book that is 90% inner monologue would work as a film, it would be cool if they did it as a silent film just watching him do his thing while we can only hear him breathing most of the time (a bit like Gravity I guess), but I'm not sure if Hollywood is brave enough for that.
It's not though, it's mostly logs. I imagine they'll film it as video logs and live-action 3rd person with him talking to himself.

This. Ridley going downhill for the last what zillion years, and Matt Damon just can't play so jovial a character.
The first line of the thread made me think, 'ooo, sounds intriguing.' Then I read Scott was the director...interest wanes...then the actors name...interest plummets. biggrin

I went through all stages of anticipation in the pace of 20 seconds. biggrin

Looks awesome, Damon has got the character by the balls already.

Guy playing Vogel looks good, same with Johanssen, not so sure about Chastain as Lewis.

Liked the feel from that, I hope that's maintained into the final product. Could be good.

For me Ridley is either very good or very bad, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. Let's hope the good Ridley turns up for this one.
Me too.

That trailer looks like it might be the case with this.

Like.

See there's an actual trailer out? Hugely disappointing after the character promo this morning frown

Done already, All Is Lost with Robert Redford. They overdo it a bit too much because I'm pretty sure in these sort of scenarios people do talk to themselves quite a bit.

Trailer always has to be over dramatic but it looked good and appears faithful to the book.

Trailer looks great, however that normally bears little resemblance to the final film, especially with Scott as director. The book was brilliant and as long as they stick reasonably to that then ideally you'll get book plot and witty script + Scott glorious visuals!
