Does anyone know how much of the cars was actually produced by Jaguar. I can imagine a long shopping list appearing at Manners, Robeys, Baratts , RS Panels and C&G with x6 of each please. Jaguar then paint it and screw it together. Did Jaguar really cast new door handles etc or just buy them in.
A lot like modern cars now then?

I enjoyed the programme for what it was.

The car itself was fantastic I'd love to see more manufacturers recreating older models.
I know what you mean but of course we would need to cherry pick the past; the E Type's styling pleases many (if not me) but few would want the Moss gearbox of originals or the generally poor build quality compared to whet we now demand. And if it's a production model it can end up as a bit of a pastiche like the iffy MGB RV8 thing. Many cars of that era had terrible undergearing , overheating, running on , incredible servicing frequency and synchromesh which was often awol. But if Hall and Hall were to recreate me an Elan Sprint and a 275 GTB4 Ferrari I would be happy .

Alfaholics do it right - classically perfect styling and modern convenience and poke ; as do Singer with their 911 recreations of course. Just spare me the more crass fake snake parodies....

Interestingly Lord March obviously had a different opinion when it came to the GT40, there were several dubious entrants for the anniversary race, Gelscoe and Superformance, both of which great cars but originals?...

I finally got around to watching this last night, a pretty good programme and was going well until the final prep for the secretive buyer where Mr Evans mentioned that it had to be spot-on because the chap hadn't signed the contract yet, and if he didn't sign, one of these guys could lose their job. Other than that, though, it was pretty interesting. It could have done without the presenter, and I was secretly quite pleased when they refused to let him drive it, but he wasn't too annoying and didn't spoil it really - there are certainly many worse.

I thought the paint comment was a bit strange, £40k for any kind of respray might be possible if it involved stripping down the engine bay and interior, but that was all bare aluminium in any case. Mind you, the same chap mentioned if it was done in cellulose that was "about £10 a litre", which hasn't been the case for quite some time.

I haven't really got an opinion on the project itself, it's so far away from the world of classics I inhabit that it's hard to get my head around.
