George Clooney could have promoted Bentley, Jaguar, Rolex, Armani, Ray Ban or any other super cool high end product but no, he stars in those stupid coffee machine adverts.
I'm sure I read somewhere that George Clooney gives all the money he gets from the advertising to charity.

Come to Australia. We get to enjoy Coles (one of the two big supermarket chains here) us ing Status Quo in their ads.

Not just the music, the actual band.

They've even use a bastardised version of one of their songs.

Sad.
I remember seeing that whilst visiting relatives a couple of years ago;

I thought Nicholas Cage did one about toilet or tissue paper a while back and decided he'd lost the plot. I consequently found out it was a lookalike

It's probably a couple of days work for an absolute massive wedge of money; why not.

As for Jean Claude van Damme and the Coor's ads; what else is he doing.....err nothing and he was hardly an actor that chose film roles that taxed his thespian abilities; he did any old crap.

Now this is anarchy

Frankly the migration of Johnny Rotten to "Sir" John Lydon, Grand Gentleman of Rock, will always be of great amusement to me. I happen to have time for Mr Lydon and his musical work so seeing him in an ad was hilarious!

They should have advertised the butter with a song and dance act - to the tune of Friggin' in the Riggin.

Yep, AA home care, or whatever they call it; had another expensive divorce to pay for.

Used to be the thing that US stars would make adverts only in Japan, or markets where their lustre wouldn't be diminished by the stain of 'acting' in an ad. THat attitude has disappeared now (probably had gone by the time Lost in Translation had been made). I recall the cry of shock that happened when...hmmm a bank, maybe NatWest? Hired a huge US star for their advert, it was one of the first in the UK to do it, can't recall if it was Sam Jackson or Gary Oldman. But whatever caused the change, bigger names started to appear in UK ads, and now US ads as well.

Al Pacino flogging Sky telly.....disappointing.
Al Pacino doing the Sky ads had it's own thread back in July 13. I said how disappointed I was in him and most people disagreed with me. Someone said Hollywood A listers often do ads, and that he's only an actor, to which I replied:

There's Hollywood A listers, and then there's Al Pacino.

I take the point that he's an actor, and it's a job. Van Gogh was a painter but I wouldn't have expected him to do someone's hall, stairs and landing!

Amazing what a seven figure paycheck can do!

Bread? Not garlic bread hehe? Am I hearing you right? How much? Is Bolton in Scotland? That's a pretty place for a day or two.

Fair old sell by whoever stuck that in front of the board bow.
