Marvel have confirmed Fantastic Four will be released in the summer of 2025.
I generally ignore the rumour mill, but I am looking forward to this. I know that’s foolish based on recent MCU films, but I’m hoping this will buck the trend.
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby and 2 other I’ve not heard of. Appears to be set in the sixities so either they’re going to the Multiverse route or a re-run of the whole Captain A frozen in time route. Never watched either (assume The Bear is TV?) which I guess is why I haven’t heard of either!

In a way, that’s what the original Christopher Reeves Superman film did. When he arrived in Metropolis, it was like a character from the 1940s had arrived in cynical post Watergate New York.
“I’m here to fight for truth, justice, and the American way.”
“You’ll end up fighting every elected politician in the country.”
If they can capture the charm and wit of that film, it’ll be a winner.

Agree- the Bear is excellent. Very well written. The second season features gripping family dinner set at thanksgiving, with none other than the Punisher, taking a central role.
That show is the definition of good writing. And I have no interest in chefs or restaurants. If only the creatives behind the MCU would take note.

It was an odd way to drop the casting announcement for FF but I guess given how long they'd strung it out for plus the leaks there wasn't much point hyping it up.
I'm ok with the casting, none of them aside from Vanessa Kirby would I have thought of for the roles but they're all extremely talented actors. Pedro continues to add to his franchise bingo card with a role in the MCU.
I really hope they don't do an origin story, we've already had them name dropped and Reed has featured in the current MCU so anyone who cares really doesn't need an introduction again. We've had 2 very different introduction films now, I really don't need a 3rd origin story after all this time. It'd be great if we joined them well into their journey, I'd find that far more interesting.

They did something similar with the Edward Norton film, which was Hulk's introduction to the MCU. There was a montage in the opening credits, then we join him living undercover in south America. The origin didn't match the comics, or the previous film, or the TV series. But it didn't seem to matter.I'm ok with the casting, none of them aside from Vanessa Kirby would I have thought of for the roles but they're all extremely talented actors. Spider-Man had already started his superhero journey some time before he appeared in the MCU.

Rumours that Henry Cavill will be in something, possibly as Captain Britain.
Or Sentinal apparently? Been rumours for ages but I believe now the rumour is he was offered something different to what he initially wanted and accepted that.Whilst I'm a Cavill fan I just hope it's something they take their time with and make good use of. I'm sure after his experience with DC at the end he won't have just signed on without having a very good idea of the plan.

Cavill isn't a terrible actor, and he can play the villian. But I don't see him being able to portray a character with that amount of complexity.
I feels like casting him just because everyone wants to see Henry Cavil in the MCU as a superhero, not because he's right for the part.
Captain Britain, on the other hand, would be perfect for him. Posh boy gets superpowers. Not much more to him than that.

Marvel to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. Sorely needed after the pile of st Secret Invasion.

Disney have tried to maximise the profit from the purchase of Marvel by churning out 'content' without any consideration for the quality of the output. Up to a certain point they were able rely on fans goodwill to keep watching after a 1 or 2 poor films. But if they keep delivering poorly made films and TV shows for 2 or 3 years, then all but the hard core fans will loose interest. That's where we are now.https://comicbook.com/movies/news/marvel-cinematic...
It seems obvious that if they want to keep making money from their investment, they have to spend it getting directors and showrunners who care about the characters and know how to tell a story.
In other words, if they want our money, give us something worth watching.

Star Wars was "creatively retooled" and then they seemed to stop making movies for a bit. https://comicbook.com/movies/news/marvel-cinematic...
The problem is the combination of how expensive the movies are to make versus how many people are willing to pay to see them.
I know Madam Web isn't Disney but that is plumbing new depths on bombing.
It’s Sentry not Sentinel. I think Cavill likely more suited to Captain Britain. They could do something with that character as the comic version is a bit bland. Perhaps connecting to the little seen Black Knight or bringing in Arthurian legend (Excalibur etc)
The Sentry is an interesting character who would be better served being explored over the longer term.
Basically a Superman level character who suffers from MH issues and is also his own arch enemy.

Apologies yes you're right, it's not a character I'm that familiar with (clearly had X-Men on the brain with '97 coming soon. The Sentry is an interesting character who would be better served being explored over the longer term.

Agreed, it never sat right with me they left our Foggy and Karen and then recast Vanessa but kept the same actors for DD and Fisk. They were all brilliant in the original in their respective roles. I'm cautiously optimistic for this. I've recently managed to get the GF to watch Punisher so were working through that now and she's been asking about the backstory etc. I'm hoping I can get her to watch DD eventually
