Actually I think it looks quite decent but why does it have to be called Point Break? As a stand-alone film, if they removed the surfing piece (too obvious a connection with the original), it would have worked OK. Sounds like the crims have a different agenda to Patrick Swayze's lot anyway, as they're clearly intent on giving the money away to destabilise markets, instead of keeping the money for themselves.

It's not as if Point Break needed remaking either. It's still a good film on its own and still feels "current" - although I accept 1991 was a horribly long time ago in terms of how much water has passed under my personal bridge. smile

Bit of a weird choice to name it Point Break IMO but whatever... it's not a "cinema" film for me anyway. Mind you, few are.

By comparison, U.N.C.L.E. seems ripe for a film/makeover although that was a TV series now converted to the big screen, and a lot more time has passed since anyone watched that "afresh".

Looks like some great scenery but I won't be watching, as a surfer from a young age Point Break was an iconic movie to me.

For some of his faults I thought Keanu Reeves played the character well and Patrick Swayze was perfect as Bodhi.

It was on not too long ago and still stands the test of time IMO.

It's not as if there was anything that could have been improved by CGI. More evidence of the lack of new ideas in Hollywood.

They've sucked out everything that made the original fun and turned it into a 'gritty' remake where the 'bad guys' are clearly the 1% and the good guys are some Anonymous type Occupy wannabes. Both Bodhi and Utah look dull as dishwater too.

I see it as... Will cost $100 million, Will make $200+ million, so remakes will be remade and remade until they stop making the companies cash.

yes It costs a lot less to recycle an existing idea than to develop one from scratch so I understand. Plus people will go an see it because of the name.= of the movie. Easy money for the studios

Wow, that looks awful.

Surely there are decent unique scripts out there that will entice us in to cinemas, rather than recycling mediocre movies such as Point Break.

Sure there are, but it seems that if the film worked first time, Hollywood are much happier assuming it'll work again, rather than take a punt that the public will like something original...

Just watched the trailer - Generic bks... Might watch it on a plane, but it's NO Point Break...

I think that tops his accent in The Departed.

I thought Ray Winstone was supposed to be a proper actor? The more I see of him, the more he reminds me of Danny Dyer.

Looks good (or at least no worse than the usual standard Hollywood fodder) for a generic couple of hours of brain-out entertainment, but it's not Point Break.

As you can probably tell from my username, I was a bit of a fan of the original, and am absolutely seething that they are remaking it. It's bad enough that they borrowed the plot for Fast and the Furious, but to completely remake it whilst it is still reasonably fresh? Come on Hollywood, new ideas please.

Actually thinking about it, Hollywood seem to be pretty much remaking my childhood. Robocop, Total Recall, Transformers, now Point Break? If they remake Buck Rogers I am officially out of watching films frown

Why bother with a remake? The original is a decent film in its own right. Same with the Total Recall remake.

This sort of thing is why Hollywood is on its arse and people have switched to big-budget TV series.

He can't do American...

Its just as bad in The Departed which is a shame because the rest of the cast perform flawlessly.
