I agree about the open ending due to knowing there will be a second series. But saying that I really, really enjoyed it and (to me) it was a nice fresh series.
Loved the acting and the parallel universe idea rather than other the top futuristic look that grows old very quickly.
Looking forward to the next series and cannot wait to see how it twists.

Almost mythology, but she has a heart of stone,
She has an IQ of 1,001,
She has a jump suit on,and she's also a telephone.

Did no one else get it? I think I may need the whoosh parrot as I didn't understand the "...'cos that's what'll happen!" comment.
(I adore that album btw but thought I was the only person in the world who knew it)

Agree with the comments that it was a low key end, in keeping with the general tone of the series.
Personally I was expecting it would end with the Synth Consciousness being released to the world, and leaving us to wonder about the consequences. I would like to have seen how that would play out in series two. I guess the way television works is that the premise of the show remains the same from one season to the next, with only evolutionary changes.

Time is one of my most favourite albums and very 1980s. (I adore that album btw but thought I was the only person in the world who knew it)
I loved Humans I think it is a real good quality series and this does take me back to the stuff that Channel 4 used to do, they seemed to be able to get the tomorrows future stuff just right.
Not really sure about the Drummond character but you could see him wrestling with his conscious and strict morals and maybe come the next series he will be developed more.
As I have said before this is one of the very few series I have actually bothered to sit and watch all the way through as it hooked me in the first five minutes (others being 1st series of Broadchurch, Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes).
Whilst enjoyable I get bogged down when thinking it through...
You have 'synths' that have a conscience banded together as outsiders, helped by the modern family (who learn a lot about themselves in the process etc etc but never why none of the children bear no physical similarities to their parents) and then the synths are released to appear in series two...
BUT - at least two of the synths have committed murder...and yet they are allowed to walk away?
I'm all for ethical dilemma and pushing the boundary but 'overlooking' the small matter of death seems a tad odd. Or did I miss something?

Whilst entertaining and all that, I think I rather preferred the original Swedish version (called "Real Humans").
Certainly more aspects on how society and synths (well, Hubots as they called them) integrate. Humans very briefly touched on "We Are People" and also personal relationships but that went in detail much more in Real Humans.
It's on Vimeo I think (someone linked to it earlier in this thread) and there's two series too!

To think it through in terms of the show, they said it was a "grey area" for the half human to be held and have no rights, therefore it may simply be that a synth is not able to commit murder in that society - I suppose there may well be no law given they were not supposed to even be able to hurt people......Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
