I am sorry, but watching this (seemingly) cheap as chips show last night, I was reminded of the '70's/'80's children's show, The Tomorrow People!

Waist down.

Was he not already past the barrier when it went live?

Was it not to do with the implant that Qualia 'installed' when captured?

Yes. They made a point of showing it, then dismissed it as "probably a tracker". I was wondering why they didn't try and remove it before escaping,

Just watched this and I'm quite gripped - I certainly didn't see Pete dying there...

I'm unsure as to where this is going but Hester is just a bit mad...

Maybe Pete's personality will be uploaded to an artificial mind or to a synth.

Interesting!

I had a strong feeling Pete was going to get hurt when Hester turned up. She seems to have gone rogue now and I can see her coming to end in the finale or going off big time for a set up to a third series.

Hester is definitely the mentalist bot hehe , the 'do not harm humans' part of Asimov's three laws is completely out of the window there.

I think Mia's going to be the danger.

Remember she fell in love and was betrayed so has more reason to want revenge on humans than Hester.

If it involved mud, oil, little clothing and a massive monkey wrench, then yes hehe

Hmm, I don't think Mia will want to hurt just anyone. Her Ex better mind out though, just in case they bump into each other.

Hester is just unhinged/proper Terminator.

It's almost as though sentient synths can have as many personality types as humans scratchchin

My reading of it is they have personalities based on their 'life experience'. They remember everything that happened before they became conscious. Hester talked about factory workers abusing synths out of spite. The same behaviour was not directed to any other factory equipment. After she gained sentience humans immediately started hunting her so they could use her for vivisection. That seems like a good recipe for creating a psychopath .
On the other hand there is Odie, who lead a life of service but was treated with kindness, respect, an even love by his owner. Or the woman living in the train carriage who was a nanny and spent her existence caring for and playing with the children.
The central characters were 'born' conscious into a family environment and their personalities seem to have been shaped by how their creator treated them, as well as life on the run.
