After the disappointment of Mad Max recently, I am off to see San Andreas tomorrow evening with SWMBO.

Looking for a bit of action hero escapism and hopefully a storyline this time. Anyone else off to see it or am I the only one who is way too childish smile

... Can't wait for Minions ...

Mad max is not good? Damn, I was looking forward to that.

Can't imagine San Andreas being anything other than awful.

Mad Max is good, reaction here seems divided though, some people are expecting a complex plot and deep characters, it isn't that sort of thing, its a 2 hour chase scene with lots of explosions. I don't have a problem with a 2 hour chase scene with lots of explosions. I've seen it in 3D, I'll be seeing it again in IMAX.

As for San Andreas, its on my 'maybe see it' list for new and up coming films, after Jurassic World and Minions being definites.

San Andreas will be just The Rock running / flying around whilst stuff collapses / floods / breaks apart around him.

If you didn't like Mad Max for "lack of storyline", you'll hate this...

Somehow, I think it is going to be more varied than a one hour weird car chase in one direction, and another one hour wierd car chase back again. At least the lead character may be in the front of the movie rather than invisible, and with any luck there will be one or two other characters that develop supporting roles too.

I'm am hopeful. Will report back.

They advertised this twice before mad max tonight. When the ad looks awful you know you are onto a loser.

I loved Mad Max.

Saw it tonight. Enjoyed it. Much better than 2012 or the day after tomorrow.

The only disappointing thing about Mad Max was that as I didn't read anything about it before I saw it I thought it was going to be a sequel with some sort of Mel Gibson involvement. The Terminator advert looked good, I'd only want to see San Andreas if it was a GTAV movie. Wonder if they could do a film based around the heists, I'd go watch that biggrin

After an absence of many years, I have only started going to the cinema over the last 9 months. Shaun the sheep is actually the best money I have spent at my local Odeon.

Unlike pretty much every other recent experience, I actually left not thinking that I had wasted a lot of time and money when I could have been doing something enjoyable.

True. But for a summer switch off blockbuster it is actually ok.

So bad it's funny.

Good: The rock, cgi.

Bad: plot, script.

I don't mind suspending belief for silly action sequences (I'm a big F&F fan!) but you can't take yourself too seriously when doing it.

Every action movie cliche you can imagine is in this film.

But, there is a plot, multiple characters developed, a brief baddie of sorts and the film is in your face right from the start for almost 2 hours. As said above, it is so bad it's good. Reality has to be totally suspended as there are just so many impossible things that they want you to believe can happen.

But in the end it was worth the time and ticket price. Yes, we actually enjoyed it.

Almost felt like a guilty pleasure, as i really enjoyed, but it's totally formulaic and clichéd. 7.5/10 for me.

Alexandra Daddario has some impressive assets too wink

Mad Max was epic. San Andreas is a turd. If the Rock is the best actor in your film, get some more actors

I love cheesy action films. This was just annoying. Up there with 2012 as far as I'm concerned
