I wonder how MLB will do as a presenter rather than an actor? Two very different things but I suppose quite a few make it across.

I get the impression that Top gear is going to be a car crash not a top show . . . look at Chris Harris's face in the photo Chris Evans tweeted . . . he's the only one thinking "What have I got myself involved with this time . . . ?"
He's probably thinking it's his one shot at the big time (you never get two) and dammit he's thrown his hat in with this lot.

Weren't they supposed to have CH, Sabine & Coulthard?

Also I read Richard Porter's book ("And On That Bombshell") and hadn't realised how deeply integrated he was with TG. Is he still working with them or will he go with C, M & H? His relationship was really with them for 13 years or so, I don't think TG on Amazon would be the same without him and Wilman (is Wilman going with the trio to Amazon too?).

Not sure. I got the distinct impression he wasn't the least bit impressed with Clarkson at the end. No idea if their relationship survived though. Sounded absolutely intense as well (the work rate), perhaps he'd be thinking of going for which ever is the slower of pace for change.

He's not exactly verastile, only ever having played "Joey" in Friends, "Joey" in Joey and "Himself" in Episodes.
Don't forget the dashing heroic spaceman in "Lost in Space" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rE89sq-uYI
Or parts in Charlie's Angels, Web Therapy, All The Queen's Men, Ed, Vinnie and Bobbie, Married With Children, Rebel Highway, Monsters, TV101 plus several others. But he's only ever played Joey.....
Wow....what a CV....a real coup for the BBC indeed.

...Charlie's Angels, Web Therapy, All The Queen's Men, Ed, Vinnie and Bobbie, Married With Children, Rebel Highway, Monsters, TV101 plus several others...
..and probably the biggest sitcom ever. Hardly unknown.

So only in America and it's a compilation of Clarkson, May and Hammond, so nothing new and still relying on the Clarkson/May/Hammond programming. I suppose with the number of repeats on BBC that was predictable. They're even repeating "Sorry" again . . . how bad does it have to get before the BBC realise they're out of their depth these days.

pretty cynical really Chris Evans is unknown outside of the UK's they needed somebody with an international profile the question is is he the right person and let's face it we've only ever seen him acting as Matt LeBlanc we haven't seen him presenting anything

Not unknown, he just hasn't done much since then.

And as I said some of "us" have never even seen that. I have absolutely no interest in stuff like Cheers and Friends. So no idea who he is, that said I have heard his name and I know the girls think he's lovely but I thought he was the lead singer in a band.

Matt Bianco as the O/H called him earlier.

TBH if someone said 'Matt Leblanc' I'd have had no idea who they were talking about, I only recognised him after seeing some of articles mentioned him as the new presenter.

As long as he's not Tim Lovejoy* mk2 I'll be happy...

( * FWIW I had to look him up as I couldn't remember his name, but was amused to find that 'worst fifth gear presenter' brings Quentin Willson as the top result rofl)

I love it when people advertise their stupidity and cultural unawareness with posts like this.
It's a PH disease.

Wilman has gone with C, M & H. Porter has not stated either way last I heard but I agree Wilman & Porter would be part of the "winning" team.
Just listened to "The Smoking Tire" podcast with Richard Porter and he says he will not be joining Evans.

You're talking about Troy Mcclure and The Simpons, right?

Oh dear. I think the BBC believe they have pulled off a massive coup here but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this guy is totally cringeworthy as a presenter. And while he may appeal outside the UK does he appeal in the UK?

ignoring that, he might be a massive car nut, but that does not mean he's a decent presenter.

I would go as far as say he is a car-bore who will simply turn people off.

But will he tell us what's under the hood, and whether the trunk is bigger on the coop or the sedan? hehe
