Names stay the same, formats change.
Watchdog started as a Consumer segment on Nationwide. It survives today in a new incarnation.
Top Gear started as a segment on Midlands today, became a nationals car and consumer show, evolved some more, took a break and became the show that was recently axed.
I'd quite like a return to a modern interpretation of the Sue Baker, William Woolard, Chris Goffey type show.
It needn't be staid or boring. It could be a mix of reviews of cars, consumer, motoring features and fun.
Have an anchor (Evans) with him involved in a confusing theme or challenge or whatever as he links to several features presented by others.
Have guest presenters, sometimes serious, sometimes fun. Coogan and Bryden go to Wales to test the new Discovery. Boris Johnson learns to drive a bus. Dan Snow on how they used to build Spitfires at the Jag factory.
That sounds great.Maybe have Jodi Kidd show us how spanners are made or Ken Livingstone show us how the charging zone works.Watchdog started as a Consumer segment on Nationwide. It survives today in a new incarnation.

Most economical lap? Star on a reasonably priced bus?

What do people actually like about Chris Evans? I couldn't think of a more annoying squeaky little bd.
The only reason the BBC sacked clarckson was becuase he wasn't left wing.
I bet if he'd been gay or a child molester he'd have kept his job. Maybe he would have been knighted?
I think it was because he punched a work colleague in the face. The only reason the BBC sacked clarckson was becuase he wasn't left wing.

Who's working on their audition video then?
30s isn't long to sell yourself. Personally I think there's a core of personable young and not so young chaps doing a fine job on YouTube, I'm guessing Evans has his head buried in these chaps videos:
Car Throttle guys,
Super cars of London
Life on unleaded
Harry's garage (not so young)
Chris Harris
Schmee150
Pistonheads TV even!

I can't be alone in finding Shmee150 to be one of the most awkward and unwatchable people on youtube, at least of those who are known.30s isn't long to sell yourself. No doubt he'll send in a tape as he loves filming himself and not the cars but I don't think he's topgear quality..
Some of the others though I'd be happy to see on it in small doses.
