Yes, I thought that was because he couldn't speak!

Or wasn't allowed to..........

I too am glad that top gear is finally going to be back and Chris Evans is IMHO a great choice . As said already a natural entertainer who happens to be a Petrolhead and not too geeky. Lets hope any co-hosts are of the same calibre.

You need one if you want to see how fast a car can go, but (in Clarkson/Wilman's opinion) you don't want to hear their boring opinions.

This is what surprised me the most about it. Slimey two faced, backstabbing, muppet.
I WONT be watching the new Top Gear; RIP Top Gear.

It wasn't that long ago that he was publicly saying that he did not have the slightest interest in presenting TG!

Well, to say I'm shocked would be an understatement.

Chris Evans is the last person I'd expect to have a sex change. BBC kept that one quiet.
He's come out as a black woman!

Top Gear was past it's prime in many ways , it'll be good to have a fresh start and I'll give Chris Evans the benefit of doubt until proved otherwise . Guy Martin never , huge fan but his unique appeal is hands on rather than sucking up for the ratings , would ruin his style IMHO .

Chris Evans was a great TV presenter when I was in my 20's.

Sorry. The BBC should have parked it for a year.

Rebounds are messy affairs.
Do all of your posts have relationship connotations?

hehe

Go Chris. It'll be a good start. (Oh, I'm at it now!)

Evans is a tt, ruined R2 and I'm sure he will ruin TG as well.
The listening figures show that it's not Evans that's the tt wink
Strictly Come Dancing is very popular, by your logic Bruce Forsyth must be a comedy genius and not a tt.

I hated Clarkson. I found him boorish, overbearing, predictable and dull. Exactly the kind of public school bully that turns up at parties and gets on everyone's tits. Evans is modest, intelligent, funny and above all can add some much needed sparkle to a tired old TG. I look forward to seeing who the other two are. smile
Funny thing is, that's sort of what I liked about Clarkson. I don't think Evans will work but we'll see; it wouldn't be the first time I've been totally wrong.
Exactly, Clarkson may well be a complete prick on and off screen but he was right for the show.

Top Gear was getting on my tits. It's not even a decent car show, Fast & Loud, Wheeler Dealers etc are more my thing.

I suppose with an average age watching of about 10 years old the juvenile antic of Mr Evans will suit the stunts.

Probably not good idea to appoint someone that has a LaFerrari as most other cars will be absolutely st in comparison.

Should have appointed someone with a Nissan Micra as a daily
Nice car type programmes for, er, 11yr olds. Pretty dire rubbish really, I sit there watching for the 'mistakes'.

Whatever anyone says, the mad 3 made TG theirs, and they/it can't be replaced. If the mad 3 go elsewhere, BBC are stuffed. Hang on, thet are stuffed anyway. So that's F1 coverage that's been ruined, don't watch it anymore, and now TG. Brilliant.

Regrettably it was either Evans or Graham Norton. I'm not sure the bbc ever look any further.

Broadly Evans appeals/appealed to younger audiences and I always thought R2 in the day was aimed at older women - two markets that aren't traditional top gear territory.

+1 and in addition the post below who recommends Jodie Kidd.

Chris Evans, Guy Martin and Jodie Kidd

I might actually watch it!
This sounds awful to me. Guy Martin (I've read his book) admits he doesn't like talking to the camera, which is why he always talks to somebody whilst he is being filmed. People like him because he's a character but that doesn't mean he'd be a good presenter. Personally, I like him as a bike racer and promoter of the TT.
